Unbelievable. We burn De Vries and 3 pitchers for Mason Miller and JP Sears. I cannot possibly be more disappointed.

Its move #1, watch the dominos fall today.

The Padres and A’s are in agreement on a trade sending star closer Mason Miller and left-hander JP Sears to San Diego, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. Top prospect Leo De Vries headlines a four-player return for the A’s, Passan adds. They’ll also receive three yet-unnamed pitchers.

Miller is elite but Sears might be a sleeper ... a LHSP (29 years old) with not a lot of success ERA wise but a career 1.25 WHIP which is decent for a SP (maybe a #4-5). Also seems to be durable over the past 3 years.

We will see on the other players going to A's but adding two minimum salary / long control arms should make it more feasible to deal SP off the current roster (Cease for sure). However, now could make the gamble on dealing the Padres' own minimum cost, long control, near term ML SP in a deal for that big bat.

Hearing Nett is included too.

For the moment this deal move the roster to 42 ... so either the players to SEA include 40 man roster types, they go in a different trade, or just get DFA. Might be a delay until they are notified.

OK with that in the big picture of adds.

Number 3 prospect in ALL of baseball for a closer, you plan on moving to starter????

Wow....just wow...

Highly disappointed that yet another promising position player sent out for....hope?.....chance?.....luck??? Obviously the team has a plan but totally frustrated right now.

AJ now needs to deal Cease and Suarez for this to make any sense.

Andrew Cashner 2.0, folks.

I'm having a hard time with this.

Any info on Sears? Is he bringing Roebuck with him?😂

Edit: looks like a solid LHSP. Slots right into the rotation for the rest of the year. Maybe Niebla works his magic( ala Pivetta) and this deal works out for us.

10:26am: San Diego is also sending minor league righties Braden Nett, Henry Baez and Eduarniel Nunez to the A’s in the trade, per Passan.

And would it kill AJ to trade for an every day player????

Last one was......Nola???? That only cost us All Stars France, Munoz, and serviceable C Torrens🙄
