Texas Rangers at San Diego Padres: July 4-6

PreviousPage 3 of 3

Sounds as though the are trying the TB "starter" approach with the RHP Morgan going a couple of innings and then coming in with Hart as the LHP to go long (hopefully). So maybe not a true bullpen day IF Hart delivers.

Guessing they are lagging Darvish because he did a bullpen pen day yesterday so needed the one day off before returning.

Darvish will require a 26 and 40 man move ... expect Hart to be sent down again ... a lot of choices on who gets DFA off the 40 man.

Shildt did say that the choice to send down Kolek was to give him a long rest ... missing the next start then the All-Star break and maybe another start before his 15 day option time minimum is over. By then Bergert is in the mix ... think his 15 days are over late next week. So some interesting juggling in the next 15-20 days leading into the trade deadline.

Game 3 Lineup

3. Machado 3B
4. Arraez 1B
5. Sheets LF
6. Bogaerts SS

The Padres need to take this  series. The Dodgers lost and swept by Astros today.

Dodgers lost today and swept by Astros.

Add that Wild Card contenders also lost: ATL; CINN; NYM; STL, and AZ. SF has yet to play.

So a win by SD will look good for the Wild Card race.

The Padres take the series and move 2 games close to the Dodgers.
Pitching was solid and Hart held them for 3.2 scoreless innings. Suarez earns his 25th save.

Bring on the snakes!

GO PADRES!

I would have never expected Morgan / Hart to get through 5 innings and give up only 1 run. Kudos to them and a shut down bullpen.
