Taylor Trammell

I like the trade ...

Here's BA's take ... https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/three-way-deal-sends-trevor-bauer-to-reds-yasiel-puig-to-indians/

From today's DFR ...

Centerfielder Taylor Trammell had his best game since joining the Padres organization. The athletic outfielder homered and finished a triple shy of the cycle. Trammell has started to hit his stride over the last few weeks and is hitting .282 over his last ten games.

From today's DFR ...

Top prospect Taylor Trammelldoubled and tripled as he finishes the regular season on a five-game hitting streak. Trammell, 21, is hitting .361 over his last ten games with two homers, two doubles, a triple and eight runs scored. The left-handed swinging outfielder has been too prone to strikeouts but his loud contact over the last few weeks has allowed his tools to play.

He will have to be a centerfielder to make this trade worth it for the Padres. Either that or he needs to develop plus power, which he could. I love high BA and OBP guys far more than power guys. At this point, I am going to cross my fingers that he can keep his high OBP and give us an average of maybe .260-.270 at the major league level. That would make him at least close to what we paid for him. Reyes had big value with huge power. Trammell just has too many question marks for me to fully believe in this trade yet. I hope the Padres know something that I don't, but I am always hopeful.

BP's Minor League Player of the Weekend 🙂

Player of the Weekend

Taylor Trammell, OF, Padres (Double-A Amarillo): 7-14, 5 R, 2 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 CS.

Dealt at this year’s deadline in a deal that included Trevor BauerYasiel Puig, and Franmil Reyes, Trammell gives the Padres a chance to walk away with an impact talent if things come together. Trammell is exceptionally raw and will take some time before he’s big league ready, despite already playing more than 100 games in Double-A. If the Padres can harness his athleticism, Trammel could blossom into an impact player on both sides of the ball with speed, power, and quality defense.

You have shown a bunch of quotes. I want to know what you, personally think LynchMob.

All I can say is whew!" Finally hitting. Gave up three players for this fellow.

Hitting is the question with every non-pitching prospect. "Will he hit at the major league level"? I am very happy to see him hitting again. I was hoping the Padres knew he would because we gave up so much for him! Just hoping he can carry it into next year and then the big test, major league ball! May still take him a year or two, but I can be patient.

Starting CF in 2021.
