I saw that Go is listed with one minor league option by Roster Resource on Fangraphs … don’t get it unless there is some fine print in the rules I missed.
25, 7 professional years in the KBO, signs a FA contract with the Padres … how can that generate one MiL option year? Should be zero or at the opposite end three.
Could the contract they signed as a FA include a provision for an option year? Would the union and the standard CBA contract allow for that?

Similar Groome is listed with one minor league option (apparently exercised earlier in ST) … but he was optioned in 2021-2022-2023 … by my estimate that is three option years (unless they used the new math). Why has that not exhausted his options?

Report is that Cease will NOT be activated for the 26 man roster vs the LAD ... he will next pitch in one of the exhibition games after the Padres return to SD then be put of the 26 man for opening day v SF.
That leaves some wiggle room on the pitching staff for the series v the LAD to carry someone "on the bubble".

Apologize for not getting Estrada's status right - I guess at my age, I shouldn't post anything before 9 AM! Anyway, if the plan is to keep Cease "inactive" until the SF series, then we'll get to see a few of the competitors for that 13th spot on the pitching staff a couple more times.
Anyone going to Fan Fest on Sunday?

The UT said that Groome was granted a 4th option year as a result of not having accumulated 5 full seasons in the minors.

Not as far as I know … not reported here in SD. (Game is in Peoria).
Siedler's “celebration of life” was moved earlier from 1 PM to 11 AM and the Fanfest scheduled for Sunday was cancelled do to the expected rain coming in late today and continuing tomorrow.

I think it's just a webcast, but you if you want to watch it on your TV and not your computer, you can still do so if you scroll down past the "games" on MLB.tv. It shows as a video link and not a regular game link, if that makes sense.
