The Padres are on a roll having won 5 in a row. They have passed 4 teams in 5 days and now are on the doorstep of 3rd spot for the wild card.

I know 13 games behind the Dodgers for the NL West title is a longshot. But, this is baseball and anything can happen.

The Padres will not have to face Webb in this series.

Keep The Faith!
GO PADRES!

What would it take to get Robbie Ray? Dude has been a consistently good lefty for quite awhile.

Maybe he's the short term, quality SP we need to get us over the hump?

Given the demand for good SP and the willingness of SF to eat some contract ... will require a pretty good prospect. Mayfield?

For a 2 month rental( at maybe....$8 million?) no one will give up their top pitching prospect.

Maybe someone at DCL or ACL level? This is almost similar to the deal that brought us Tatis, right? A veteran to help in a playoff run?

Remember that SF said it would eat some of his remaining salary which should make him more desirable to more teams ... and increase the price to get him.

As for Mayfield ... maybe #1 Padres pitching prospect but on (other than Salas) the worst farm system in baseball. Debatable whether he will make a ML impact and  at best 3-4 years. Alternatively maybe Schoolcraft or Mendez does it for SF.

Padres need to win the next three games. Bradgley Rodriguez starts tonight.

Always fascinating to hear a totally different (and unexpected) perspective on an issue.

Buehler on radio today was asked about his thoughts about the "chaos" approach the Padres are using for their pitching ... basically a run of 2-3 inning pitchers.

Instead of commenting on the pluses / minuses on the field ... he went to how players in general (not being specific to the Padres and the course of this season) viewed it. Simply they do not like it, in part, due to the fact that by going in only short spurts ... they lose a lot of negotiation ammo ... resulting in lower pay. Legit starters get paid ... legit end of the game arms get paid ... "bulk inning" guys / mid innings guys don't.

With the LAD, Buehler was a union rep I think, so may have a different perspective than just on field value.
