This is Cease's first start not allowing a run since July when he pitched 3 straight games not allowing a run.

Makes sense given how Merrill and Cronenworth are currently hitting.
Worth noting that Solano is in again at 1B (Arraez DH) vs a RHP vs batting Peralta (LHH) at DH and Arraez at 1B. Do they just like the bat of RHH Solano over LHH Peralta vs RHP (both have hit well) or are they that worried about Arraez' defense at 1B and that combined with Solano's bat gets him in the line-up?

Also maybe Shildt wants Peralta's bat available for the later innings.

Padres win! Shutout the Giants for the second straight night. Now why couldn't the padres play like this last weekend.
Outstanding performance by Musgrove pitching 6 shutout innings allowing only 3 hits and 6 Padres had multi-hits.
Braves beat Dodgers 10-1, Mets lost and the Dbacks lost to the Brewers 15-8. The Padres move up to 3.5 games behind the Dodgers, 1.5 games ahead of the Dbacks, and pad their wild card lead to 2.5 games.
Let's take game 3 tomorrow for the sweep. Perez returns and on the mound. Cosgrove optioned.

I was at the games the last couple night and there has been huge Padre representation during the games and throughout the city all weekend.

Shaping up as a bullpen day for SF.
Their starter is a 26 year old rookie who has appeared in 20 ML games (1 start) and pitched only 36.2 innings. Had some starts in the minors but not a lot of innings / game.
Not a bad pitcher … just not likely to go long in the game. SF pen not that great so a window of opportunity for the Padres if Perez pitches well.

Why does Schildt sit Tatis in the finals weeks of the season? Tatis went 3 for 6 and 1 RBI in yesterday's game.
