Vasquez still had gas in the tank. He's been making solid pitching choices lately, I guess 1 stinker is allowed. Just hope it doesn't cost us the game.

I know not everyone agrees, but I feel like Schildt has been pretty deft and aggressive with his bullpen management this season (and especially lately). It hasn't always paid off, but he's willing to make bold choices, and I like that.
Carl Edwards was not a bold choice. It was a confusing one, and it cost us. Vasquez should have been given the chance to finish that inning.
I also am confused as to why Edwards was even here to begin with. Jacob, I don't think, was empty in the tank. He's certainly more effective than a AAAA pitcher. And while I get your bullpen is stretched thin at this point, Adam was seemingly an option at that point in the game.
And now, as I type this, Yuki chokes up the lead. Frustrating.

Actually I have no idea what Edwards Is doing in a 40 man roster, let alone in the big leagues, when I see guys like him getting chances again and again I can't help to think that maybe Is not that hard to get to MLB

On another matter, I thought Schildt "babied" the bullpen so he could use them more aggressively down the stretch, I guess in his opinion we are not there yet 🤷.

And....Peralta with a very unproductive AB there. Runners 1st and 2nd, no outs, down by 1, on the road,......gotta get those guys over....

As I said a couple of days ago, not a Carl Edwards fan and he almost blew game for us. Should have let Jacob have another shot at it with that funky delivery instead of sending him down - he has been awesome so far. However, Padres escaped this one (and the day before) so hopefully, we'll get more in rhythm with a little more length by our starting pitchers versus Miami. Vasquez did a good job! On to Miami!
