San Diego Padres at Pittsburgh Pirates: August 6-8

PreviousPage 3 of 6Next

The Dodgers lost. Padres 3 games back. Unfortunately, so are the Dbacks, who have a 4-game series with the Phillies starting Thursday. Let's hope the Phillies beat the snakes.

After the Higgy homer to take the lead I was living and dying with every pitch.

Felt like a playoff game (in my mind).

Not sure why I guess cause it was so back and forth and the D-Backs had already won 2.

Lord help me (and my heart) the rest of the way.

Profar is in the lineup. That's good to see. Kim too.

With the BP heavily used the last 2 nights, hope we can get at least 6 good innings out of Vasquez.  May have to bring Hoeing out again despite having thrown over 3 innings 2 days ago.  Adam and Suarez should be okay to go, but possibly only Jacob and Matsui may be the only others available to bridge the gap to Suarez.  Might need some heroic performances from our pitching staff to get the sweep.  Go Padres!

Carl Edwards Jr was added. Jacob was sent down and Jackson Wolf was DFAd.

Profar hit again in the top of the 1st by Ortiz, after being hit in his last plate appearance last night.  Why is Profar being hit by so many teams this year?  Any thoughts?

I could understand the Nats (to some degree), but the Dog-ers & Bucs have hit him multiple times and he has been buzzed numerous other teams many times this season.

Edit #1: Vasquez hits Reynolds in the top of the 3rd, standing up for his teammate!

Edit #2: Profar hit again in the 9th, wtf?

Is Profar diving over the plate more?

Is that the reason he's also performing better at the dish?

I'm just throwing it out there( haven't seen enough AB's) If so, makes sense pitchers are buzzing him( remember Eric Show and Andre Dawson?)

Glad we decided to keep Peralta around a little bit longer. Turns out he's got a little bit left.

I don't think the Pads had any good alternatives to replace him with.  Let's hope he continues to hit better with some pop!

I would like Rosario and/or Ornelas over Bryce Johnson.  I'm assuming Shildt likes Johnson's defense over Rosario & Ornelas' bats.

Btw, Manny has now tied Phil Nevin for the 3rd most HR in Padre team history with 156.  AGonzo is 2nd with 161 and one of my all-time favorites, Nate Colbert is still the Pads all-time leader wtih 163.  Very good chance Manny becomes the franchise's all-time HR leader before the end of this season!

Additionally, Manny is now 5th in all-time RBIs for the Pads with 495, as his 2-run HR broke a tie with Klesko at 493.  Manny only needs 7 more ribbies to pass AGonzo for 4th (Gonzo had 501).   Go Manny!
