San Diego Padres at Pittsburgh Pirates: August 6-8

PreviousPage 2 of 6Next

Apparently the home team gets to decide if they start with inclement weather approaching.

Seems like not the best idea.

They basically burned Cease.

When the home team is going against another teams top starters why wouldn’t they go ahead and start a game they know will probably be suspended?

Seems like this should be an MLB decision or at least the Head Umpires decision.

Padres win the first game against the Bucs to extend their winning streak to 3, move into the top wild card spot, and are 4 games behind the Dodgers, who lost to the Phillies.

The Padres are 10 games above .500 in I don't know how long and have an MLB-best 46-11 record when they score first. That is amazing.

Solano goes for 4 for 5 and 4 RBI. He turned out to be a good pickup. He is currently batting .314 avg. I hope they re-sign him.

Disappointed Cease was removed. But, Hoeing and the BP was outstanding.

Let's take game 2.

GO PADRES!

I wonder if they'll consider bringing Cease back early to make his next start. Hoeing was awesome. Not bad for the "other" guy in the Scott deal. This game probably would have played out very differently pre-deadline. Solano was great. Wade deserves some love. For a guy who hardly plays to step up and find a way to contribute to a win is huge.

The BP has gotten to be so solid that I don't want Wandy or Brito back. If possible keep them in the minors or DFA them.

Gotta keep Brito. He could be in the rotation mix next year.

Peralta, let's see if he can regain some of his early season success before we cast him off.

The silver lining of the rain delay is that Cease gets a lower  pitch count and some much needed rest with the higher counts lately , and we still pitched a shout-out .

The Padres battled to win their 4th game in a row and take the series.

King was off his game today and Bogaerts botched a routine DP. But, Merrill goes 4 for 6, 2 HR and 3 RBI. Merrill for ROY.

Tomorrow sweep.

GO PADRES!

That was shaping up to be one of the worst losses of the season. That's probably the worst defensive game of the year. The offense kept fighting and they found a way to get the job done. That's a big win.

Last season the Padres were 2-12 in extra inning games. This season they are 5-1.

Last season they would've never ever won a game like that, NEVER.
