Quote from WindsorUK on May 11, 2025, 2:01 pmI was going to mention Heyward looking somewhat lost/uncomfortable at the dish earlier in the game.
Then after a walk to Xander and beaning of Jake, Heyward decides to swing at the first pitch he sees, one he has no hope of doing anything with( a better hitter maybe, not Jason) and hits into a DP.
I have no issue with being aggressive at the plate but that was a bad approach by a veteran player.
Short of an epic turnaround, I can't see how Heyward is here very long.

Quote from ultratvfan on May 11, 2025, 2:33 pmPivette did not looked good. Maybe because he is pitching mile high at Coors field.
20 runs one day and a mere 3 runs the next. Where did the offense go? Merrill not in the lineup made a big difference. At least the Padres took the series and finished the road trip 6-3. They don't play the Rockies again until September.
Padres head home to take on the Angels.
GO PADRES!

I can live with the shortcomings of both C's bats, but this gaping hole in LF is NOT going to work all season. That is a RBI position, something needs to change! And we do not have anything in the MiL that is close to being a replacement.
Preller needs to work some magic!

On the broadcast they showed a very very ugly stat line for Pivetta at Coors ... something like an 18 ERA over multiple starts.
Why? Just sometimes happens.

Agree but with the AAA call-ups provided nothing ... maybe in the short run now that Merrill and Cronenworth are back they may just move to a Lockridge / Wade platoon. Not a desirable end state but might move the needle a bit upward until a better solution emerges.
Not really all that much out there on the trade market (players who are actually doing well) so Preller may have to wait until closer to the trade deadline and some teams fall out of contention.
As long as the team is still winning more than they are losing ... Preller can wait a bit for the right player at a "fair" price.

There is a reason why the Pads have swept the Rockies just twice playing at Coors Field (2001, 2011), it is very hard to have 3 or 4 pitchers lined up that won't be affected by the different climate conditions there.

Quote from ultratvfan on May 11, 2025, 9:57 pmWhy is it that almost everytime the Padres score alot of runs like they did on Saturday, the offense struggles the following game?

Why not try a Lockridge/Wade tandem? Both solid defenders with good speed.
Gotta try something.
