The Padres rolled over the Rockies to retake top spot in the NL West and best record in MLB. Both the Dodgers and Giants lost.
Kolek was outstanding pitching a complete game shutout at Coors Field and giving the BP extra rest.
Every player, except Lockridge, had at least one hit and the Padres hit 5 home runs.
Merrill goes 4 for 6 and 2 RBI. He now has a .446 AVG and a 1.207 OPS. I would love to see him finish the season with a .400+ avg, which has not been done since Ted Williams. He has to just stay healthy.
The Padres have an excellent chance to sweep the Rockies in Coors, which might be a first.
Pivetta on the mound tomorrow. It's time to get out the brooms.

Did Kolek throw 3 touchdown passes????
WOW...I don't EVER remember us scoring that many runs...and pitching a shutout!
The Rockies are an embarassment( time they give someone else a shot at becoming a big league manager. Buddy is not a champion builder) but still, they are a major league team- one that usually gives us fits- so I will gladly take the wipeout! Let's hope the boys have some thunder left in their bats for today.

I think they were saying that the last time ANY ML team scored over 20 runs and had a pitcher pitch a complete game shut out was 1889 ... CINN Red Stockings vs BALT Orioles.

3 lefties, 6-8?
I'd happily move Diaz out of the 9 hole( put him 7) For some reason I just don't like really slow guys in front of FTJ. Heyward may not be good but if he does get on, he won't slow Nando down. Just a pet peeve.
