Padres could trade Campy and a RP or two for a decent OF prospect, which most teams usually have several of; not sure which team needs that combo but as much as I like Campy, don't see him in the Padres' future with Shildt's emphasis on defense as the first priority of a catcher.  I think Valenzuela has moved ahead of Campy as an interim back-up until Salas arrives; the fact that Salas is still in Arizona working on his swing is an indication they want to make sure he finds himself offensively before they stick him back in AA.

With regard to gaining a save, several criteria apply.  The one last night was that the tying run was either at the plate or in the on-deck circle, which was the case.  Seems like a stretch to get more pitchers more saves but that's the way the rules are written.

As long as the Padres keep winning ... and they have the 3rd best winning percentage in MLB ... Preller has some flexibility and does not need to make a move until something falls in his lap.

Agree that Campusano is a trade chip (just don't know his trade value) ... then it has to be a piece or two out of the RP/SP in the minors ... and we know Preller (for the right guy) will deal prospect we wish he wouldn't. Most likely the trade partner is a non-playoff contender.

If the add is a "rental" ... probably not a big cost in terms of prospects. Teams will be happy to get anyone and shed some payroll. Preller may be willing to pay "extra" for a player with two years control (or more) given nothing internally will be ready for 2026 and who knows on the FA market. We know Preller can surprise with a big deal. Doubt they go for an unproven prospect for a playoff stretch run and not sure they have the prospect to get that kind of deal done if they seek a top prospect.

This is the point when should expect Iglesias to go in the IL or get released.

If the Padres are still around the 3rd best record at the All-Star break, a major add for LF may look a worthwhile move giving the Padres their best shot for going to the WS. If so, maybe everyone prospect (other than Salas and DeVries) may be in play.

I have many friends in Northern Colorado, I go up there every August for a golf tournament, and I feel so bad for them. They are great baseball fans, and this Rox team is friggin BRUTAL!!
