Holding my breath with every pitch Suarez delivered but he was mixing them up and not just firing 100 mph FB down the middle. Thank the ump for the Marte K but the ump was definitely calling more pitches for the Snakes than the Padres so we deserved to get a break. Nice spot to be in with 2 games left in the regular season - wish I had tickets for the Tuesday opener! GO PADRES!

Vasquez recalled to pitch game 2. Jacob optioned. Jacob will need to wait 15 days before he can be recalled as part of a postseason roster unless he were to be recalled as an injury replacement.
Dodgers clinch the no. 1 seed. That means if the Padres make it to the divisional round they will play the Dodgers.

Kim will have season-ending surgery on a “small tear” in the labrum in his right shoulder.

Diamondbacks(88-72) vs Padres(92-68) -So, which team gives the Padres the best chance to advance: Braves, Mets, or Dbacks? IMO, the Braves.
Not sure I want to face the Bravos, if they can throw Sale and Fried against us. I think I would prefer to face the Snakes. The Muts have a lot of lefty pitching also, in Peterson, Manea & Quintana plus Severino. So, they would be my second choice. Bravos my last choice unless they burn up Sale and Fried on Monday's make-up doubleheader. Go Pads!

Braves won and Mets lost today. Both Mets and Braves will probably use their best pitchers in the doubleheader

Higgy hits a 2-run shot, Lockridge hits his 1st career MLB HR and Solano hits a 2-run shot. All in the 9th to help take the series and season series against the Dbacks, who lost 5 of their last 6 games. Vasquez and the BP was solid today allowing only 2 hits.
The Padres move past the 1984 team for the second best record(93-68) and the most road wins(48) in franchise history.
A sweep of the snakes to end the season would be sweet.

Best case scenario they go into Monday tied and the team with the tie breaker loses game 1

The Braves. They are 6-5 over the Mets going into the doubleheader.

Also, the 48th road win, is the most in team history! Regular starters resting tonight were Arrez, Croney, Tatis & Merrill. Additionally, no high leverage relievers used, Vasquez was great, following by Hoeing, Peralta & Matsui.
Did you know that Puk, before tonight, had been on a career best 25 consecutive scoreless outings. Also, that was Higgy's 4th HR against the Snakes this year. Wow!
I'm guessing for tomorrow, Manny, Bogey, Higgy, & Profar sit. King will not be making his originally scheduled start, as Martin Perez will start. I would be surprised if Adam, Scott or Suarez are used on Sunday, mostly likely none of them will be used. Probably, the same RP pitchers will be used tomorrow (Hoeing, Peralta & Matsui). Another possibility, would be for Vasquez to be sent down and Reynolds gets called up for another arm for the pen. Go Pads!

Here is a thought for discussion. Do we intentionally lose tomorrow to increase the odds of the Bravos/Muts having to play at least one game on Monday, if not two? What is the group think on this topic? Go Pads!
