UH OH.....

Did I read correctly that the D-Backs will be starting a ROOKIE tonight?

We're screwed!

😂

Worst a soft tossing LHP with excellent control and a knowledge how to pitch.

He has had a good minor league career (only 23) ... but a 5+ ERA in his 5 ML starts.

If the Padres buy the scouting reports ... might get some early swinging by the Padres.

AZ is in the last WC slot playing the closest foe in SD ... should be a compelling series .... BUT ... looking at the stands in AZ their fans don't seem to care as there are a lot of empty seats.

Mize looks just as s'**t as Waldron, Canning, Marquez, Sears, and every other retread we've thrown out there this year.

He has zero throw and miss in his pitches.

I hope this is just nerves? Hate to think we gave away Mayfield for 2 months of this.

Need to be patient Windsor.  These guys are human beings.  His whole world just changed due to the trade, leaving the only organization he had ever known.  I'm sure he was as nervous as he was for his first MLB start, trying to impress his new team and justify the trade.  He will come around and end up being an excellent addition.

Brent, I hope you are right 👍🏽

We desperately need the kid to be good for about 10-15 outings( depending on our length of season)

First start with a new team after an 11 day layoff. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised he didn't look sharp. It wasn't what I was hoping for. He gets a pass from me on this one. Let him get settled and back on a regular routine.

Given Mize's track record this season ... coupled with the long layoff ... not worried about him.

What I am looking at is the lack of offense against second tier pitching yesterday. Given a season where the offense was totally missing most of the early part ... have to be concerned about a return to earlier performance level.

1 hit / 0 runs over the first 8 innings ... not a good look.

Well, not exactly what I was hoping to see out of Mize, oh well, bounce back big boy!

However, here is the problem. Another flat outing, especially from the offense. One day we look like WS Champs, and the next day it looks like we should be fighting for the first pick in next years draft.

This was my problem with the team going into the deadline, they are not consistent. Im not saying they made bad trades, prospects are merely monies for the acquisition of ML talent, Im saying that there is something off with this team. They need to be more steady, more consistent, and not rollercoaster every other night.

Sure, maybe now with the two new SPs maybe things will even out, but its the inconsistency that makes me nervous about this team, especially in a short playoff series.

Mize was a disappointment. But, the offense was more disappointing. They could not get anything going until the 9th. Let's hope the Padres offense comes alive tonight.
