A major milestone from today's DFR 🙂
CF Robert Hassell III collected his first professional hit, a double. Its hard to remember that even though he was making appearances on the big league spring training squad, he had never appeared in an actual game. Hassell did strike out twice, but strikeouts have been a theme up and down the league the last two days. The Storm scored 11 runs, but also struck out 13 times.

Just as I'm always going to follow and compare Ryan Weathers and Matthew Liberatore (because the Padres could have drafted either and, somewhat controversially chose Weathers), I'm always going to follow and compare Robert Hassell III with Zack Veen ... Veen is playing for Fresno in the same league as Hassell ...

After 3 games, only 1 hit in 9 ABs, but does have 3 walks and 4 SBs ...
Side Note: both Fresno and Lake Elsinore have started the season 3-0 🙂

another one: Mackenzie Gore & Hunter Greene... but Pads didn't have a choice there; Greene picked ahead of Gore. Still....

Well Hassell ... after a poor game 1 ... has been outstanding in his last 3 games ... well over .300 BA but more impressively 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HR and some walks and SB. Leading off and in CF.

Hassell and Veen, Abrams and Greene, Weathers and Liberatore, Gore and Greene. Kyle Lewis falling was pretty important on the Quantrill decision.
Wanted Hassell, Both were fine, Liberatore, both were fine.
Hassell having a nice bounce back after a dreadful Spring where the Padres clearly rushed him and crushed him.

Hassell 1 for 1 with “3” walks from the lead off position today(so far).

From today's DFR ...
After seeing his on-base streak come to an end Saturday, Robert Hassell III collected a pair of hits and a walk Sunday to push his season OBP back up to .393. While his strikeout rate continues to hover over 25%, the lefty with the sweet swing is pacing the league’s highest scoring offense with 16 runs.
