Garcia tonight in his first two AB’s has fouled off multiple pitches off the plate and then proceeded to take strike three right down the middle.
I mean.....Really?
He was looking fastball got a changeup ... But I agree should have at least slap at it..better than taking it ..even if he strukes out. Swinging

Quote from MrPadre19 on May 21, 2019, 3:19 pm3 times?
Inthink you’re right though that he is completely guessing.
He’s good at fouling off pitches that are close.....but dang,he watched three perfect strikes for strike 3.
Greinke is 6-1.....we need to give him his 2nd loss tonight!

Which leads me to ask why Luis hasn't been given the ball more often to start a game?
Did you see what Perdomo did at AAA today? I think Quantril is better today and can get better still ... Perdomo seems done getting better ...
Who's next up? Logan Allen? He seems to have done OK recently ...
I did not.
I assume it was ugly? Was that in relief or starting?
And Perdomo got bomb'd in another relief outing tonight ...
After another good start for Logan Allen ...
They are clearly going in opposite directions ...

Quote from 84padres on May 21, 2019, 11:02 pmI'm not sure why it hasn't happened yet but we need to extend Yates. 43 Ks in 23 innings. Maybe a deal close to what Hand got, 3 for 19.75 million or a bit more . Without him I shudder to think about our bullpen. Good game again for Strahm and Paddock yesterday . Need Lauer to come through cause our offense is really struggling right now , 2 or 3 runs if we are lucky. we are getting nothing from 4 or 5 spots ( Catcher 2nd 3rd CF and Pitchers spot ) Tatis will help 1 spot

Quote from WindsorUK on May 22, 2019, 3:21 pmTime for those of you who jumped off the Eric Lauer bandwagon to jump back on!
This kid is looking better every time out.
We need to remember that he hasn't had a great deal of development time in the minors - he's getting it in San Diego! Not saying he' a number 1 or 2 in your rotation but he certainly looks to have the stuff to be a front line pitcher.

I will admit that Lauer has been pretty good the 2 outings , I hope he keps it up and I will be glad to eat crow .

I do not understand why Pads didn't extend him before the season started? His situation was very similar to Hand's; former DFA off the scrap heap who found a new pitch & became a dominant RP. But Hand is a 6'3" LHP 2 yrs younger than 5' 10" RHP Yates.
Yates 1 MM+ earned last year was his career high, so just like Hand, extending & guaranteeing $$ would have been a no-brainer for him. Think they could have gotten him for maybe 2/10 with an= 3rd yr option for 8-10 MM vs. 1 MM buyout... shorter, cheaper contract than Hand.... Now his price is simply rising by the day. Can foresee a younger cheaper back end of a pen around Andres Munoz, Jose Castillo, & Wingenter.... but that reality feels further away than it probably is.

Quote from MrPadre19 on May 24, 2019, 6:23 pmHow can Kinsler possibly be this bad running the bases?
He’s made “at least” 4 terrible baserunning mistakes already this season.
Isn’t he supposed to be the guy others learn from?
