… so we just have to keep winning these series and not overwork our high leverage bullpen arms.  Go Padres!

Careful bro…Shildt may want to have a word with you…😉

Did i hear that right?

Did Acee ask him if it would be easier if we were winning 5-0 instead of playing all these close games?

If that is the case, it sounds like when you  have no idea what to ask, but still want to be part of the conversation. 🤷

Padres Win! Last season the Padres were 1-5 against the Pirates. This year they swept the season series from them.

Perez was outstanding today and has a 1.96 ERA in 3 games with the Padres earning his first win with the club. Merrill keeps hitting going 2 for 4, triple and 2 RBI. He as hit .329 Avg and 1.017 OP in August.

The Dbacks win again. Let's hope the Dodgers lose tonight.

GO PADRES!

The Padres made history today. According to the sportscasters, for the first time in franchise history, the Padres have swept two season series with at least 6 games each series in one season: Nationals and Pirates.

Dodgers lost. Padres move up to 2.5 games back--along with the Dbacks.

The Giants are about to lose their 3rd in a row against the Braves, at home, some people were saying that because they have the best 1-2-3 in all of baseball they were still serious contenders, I guess that will mitigate those thoughts.

40 games to go for the Padres … short when winning but long if losing, so a lot can change. Mets are the first out from the playoffs and 6 games behind the Padres (5 in loss column) so pads in good position to make the playoffs … especially if Atlanta keeps fading.

Something to watch is that the Padres are only 3 games in the loss column behind LAD and Phil for the best record on the NL … that would be a major accomplishment.

Manny update, he is now tied with Adrian Gonzalez for 4th all-time in RBIs at 501, so his next ribbie will put him in sole possession of 4th.  Also, Manny is still tied for 3rd all-time in HRs with Phil Nevin at 156, so Manny's next HR will put him in sole possession of 3rd, next up on the all-time HR hit list is Adrian Gonzalez at 161 and then Nate Colbert with 163.  If Manny continues to stay hot with the long ball, he will be the Pads all-time HR leader by the end of the regular season.  Go Manny and the Pads!

Tip of the cap to LHSP Martin Perez!  He has 3 quality starts in a row!  I was worried this was another Rich Hill type of acquisition, but Perez has already drastically outperformed Hill from last year.

AJP really has done an outstanding job this year in the trade market, starting with Cease & Arraez, depth building adds of Solono & Peralta, then the deadline adds of the arms: Adam, Scott, Hoeing and Perez.  In addition to getting much needed pitching depth from the Yanks in the Soto deal plus hiring Shildt to replace Melvin.  Maybe AJP is in line for executive of the year.  Go Pads!

One of the biggest difference his a stronger bottom of the lineup than the last 2 seasons. Grisham gone and Merrill's arrival has made a huge difference. Musgrove's return with a solid performance made a big difference , too. Would the Padres have won with Vasquez pitching instead? All the Padres need now is Darvish to return. If he does this season, I think Waldron would be sent down.

I was going to post the same!

AJ's scrap heap pick ups Wade, Solano and Peralta, not to mention signing Profar, when no one else seemed to want him, and starting 20 year old Jackson Merrill have been HUGE!!!!

King, Brito, Vasquez, Higashioka, Cease and Arraez have also been HUGE factors in our success( all via trades)

So as much shit as I've given AJ for putting together a lot of bad Padre teams, I'm happy to give him major props for putting together this bunch!
