My wife and I were there too.  Thought the game was going to end when that grounder went toward Cronenworth but it must have taken a bad hop.  Nail biter all the way for me and that Merrill catch was one of 3 good/great plays he made in CF tonight.  Great athlete pure and simple.

Yeah I was surprised that Cronenworth didn't get an error on that watching it live. It looked a lot tougher on replay. What Merrill is doing as a 21 year old rookie who had only played 46 games at AA and had no CF experience coming into the season is incredible. He's a stud and may still just be scratching the surface of his potential.

It was cool to be there for what I think was the debut of a new entrance for Suarez too. Has he come in like that before? The crowd loved it.

I can't personally attest to this living in Idaho and having been to exactly zero games this season, but I feel like I've seen that entrance posted on social media once or twice before. Either way, it's awesome.

I Have to give Peralta some credit. He's swinging the bat much better lately.

Kiner-Falefa deliberately leaned his elbow into that pitch.

The Padres win and  take the series. Last season the they were 1-5 against the Pirates and now they have a chance to sweep the season series from them.

King, and the BP were outstanding. I give props to Bae who stole a HR from Merrill. Unfortunately, both the Dodgers and Dbacks win, too. At least the Padres did not lose ground.

Let's get out the brooms.

GO PADRES!

We might not be catching up/passing Arizona or the Dodgers but we are putting a little daylight between us and the Mets, Cardinals and Giants.  Still a long way to go, so we just have to keep winning these series and not overwork our high leverage bullpen arms.  Go Padres!

I do think that he has been very careful with the BP usage, maybe that is why he took it that way, is not like the Guardians, they had Clase pitching for the 4th  day in a row last night.

For the most part I've been quite pleased with bullpen usage. I feel like Shildt has been pretty progressive in that respect, deploying certain guys aggressively to address high leverage situations.

The problem is the team, as exciting and dynamic as it has been, has had some real rough stretches vs starting pitching. For whatever reason, we've reverted back to the ol KT style song and dance from the mid-2000s, where we consistently made AAAA pitchers look cy young caliber. The offense needs to be more consistent early in the game so that we don't have to deploy our aces in close and late situations every night.

Did i hear that right?

Did Acee ask him if it would be easier if we were winning 5-0 instead of playing all these close games?
