Padres vs Royals August 26-28

By now you guys know my position on " closers".
I'm not even wasting a roster spot on him the rest of the season.
Why not give Kopps a shot? No way he could be worse.
Wonder if they can find a way to put him in the IL then rehab him for the rest of the AAA season?
Actually it is Castillo I would recall unless some combo of Pomeranz / Johnson emerge at some point.
PS Kopps is not doing all that well in AA ... he has been one of my biggest disappointments in the system this year ... control stinks.

But he can hit ... 2 today
He needs to be in the lineup- either DH'ing or C- every day.
His bat just might make a difference in a game or 2, which is most likely what it will come down to in the race for the last wild card.
Not catching ... not great commentary from Grant on TV about his actions when setting up for pitchers and the standard issue of not knowing the pitchers for what works / does not work for them. Need to make it work for the pitchers first ... that should be the strong suit to play.
Now DH he should get a shot considering the extremely disappointing work out of Drury ... and they keep running him out in the middle of the line-up for some reason.
Last 7 days: 150/150/150 (300 OPS) ... 20 AB
Last 15 days: 150/196/200 (396 OPS) ... 50 AB
Last 30 days: 198/237/337 (576 OPS) ... 86 AB
Basically he is getting worse day by day from a bad start. What happened to those stats he was amassing in CINN?
This is not helping his FA paycheck this winter.

Quote from WindsorUK on August 28, 2022, 4:40 pmIf everyone in the organisation sees defects in Campusano 's defensive ability, why have they not 1) tried to correct it( he's been in the system a long time!), or 2) move him to 1B, where we have absolutely ZERO prospects? If his bat plays, this organisation desperately needs an infusion of low cost, controllable players.

My guess that have intently worked to correct his catching deficiencies because they would have a major asset with a catcher who can hit ... and the Padres are short on catchers too. Easier to move someone to 1B if needed.
Organization can try ... some players can't (or won't) change. They can't is a legit physical / mental thing but won't is always concerning thing.
Probably where Campusano is ... being instructed and not changing ... sort of irrelevant as to why if results are the objective.

Quote from Henry Silvestre on August 28, 2022, 4:54 pmI would definetely 💯 end the season for Hader ..bring up Castillo and when Menaea pitches bring up Groome and send Castillo down... Sean gets 2 runs before 5 IP.. 3 total through 6 or 7... he pitches like we are in the playoffs... and Groome piggybacks off his starts.. if he goes 6 and allows 1 ..Great.. but if he allows 2-3 in a 1/3 of an inning Groome comes in... got to keep the BP fresh BUT we can't give away games with SP allowing 5-6 runs in an inning.... They had rope early...its late ..its a Sprint and if you aren't giving us a shot to W. U need to be removed and besides Groone can pick up valuable experience....
Looks like Clev/Snell/Musgrove in SF... weather should not be Muggy so Musgrove should bounce back nicely...
LAD looks like Yu/Menaea (God help us) /Clevenger....
On to the Bay!

Saw a video of Manaea in Oak and his catcher did the same thing.
Glove moving all over the place before the pitch.
I don’t think Campys’ glove movement is a concern.

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 28, 2022, 7:13 pmSo we can just release Hader and it won’t cost us anything beyond this season correct?
Other than all the players we sent to Milw. that is?

Menaea has his moments....let's hope he has one against the Duds.
We just REALLY need to get the bats going EVERY game! Regardless of who's pitching, we should be scoring 4,5,6 runs every night, O has not gone on a tear at all this season. Time to hit the GO switch.

Sounds right.
He cannot pitch again this year. His brain is obviously toast.
