Padres vs Rockies September 23-25

I'm not too excited about seeing Grisham in the lineup again. I get that they want him to get going, but it just hasn't happened for him this year. With how good Azocar has been lately and how bad Grisham has been it's hard to justify having him in there in a close race. I really only want to see him used as a defensive replacement at this point.

These weak ground outs to the right side from Bell sure do remind me of another “former” Padre.

I really hope those two heartbreakers don’t come back to bite us. But man looking at the schedules…it could get dodgy…
Brewers have one more against the reds then two against the cardinals, four against the marlins and then three against the diamondbacks. I could see them losing 3 maybe 4 tops which means we would need to go 5-5 to stay ahead of them.
Phillies have one more against the Braves, 3 against the cubs, 4 against the nationals and finish 3 against the Astros (Astros could be resting starters by that last series). So I see the Phillies losing anywhere from 3-5. Which we would need to go 6-4 to stay ahead of them.
Personally, I would love to get the 6 seed but at this point, just get in however you can. Brewers have won 4 straight. Winning 5 straight is tough. But winning 7 to close out the season looks very doable considering their last game on the road is against the reds. The 4 against the Marlins means they get tough pitching. But the cardinals are playing to clinch the division. Good news is, the cardinals will clinch the division in Milwaukee with two brewers losses in the next three days unless the cardinals lose tomorrow as well. Phillies get a cubs team that has been playing better of late (6-4 last 10 games) and they get the nationals who have been playing better against good teams.

Also think the Astros will pitch their top 3 vs Phillies because they will not pitch again for like a week since they have a 1st rd bye.. keep them fresh

Any chance we bring Wil back next year on a make good contract?
Offer him $10 million for 1 year, put him at 1st, bat him 5 or 6 in the order.
He's not likely to get many offers but he's our best 1st baseman, and being there he's less likely to get beat up.
Sign he and Drury( he can play everywhere!), offense set.

I’d offer Wil 2/15
I think he’d take it to stay in SD.
Then again Bell may be playing himself into an affordable contract for us.
He hasn’t hit the last 2 months….but there’s no reason to think he won’t again ever.

I don't think Wil gets that much.. Joc Peterson and Pham got like 1 yr $6mil.. think around 1yr $5 (if not less) Wil might do it as a prove it contract yr play.. then again if that's his motivation he probably signs with Colorado or Reds to really inflate his stats..
Drury as a Padre has been around a .700 OPS guy.. (worst than Crone/Profar).. for a 1B/DH/3B.. Starting position player.. he needs to be over .760ish+ OPS at the very least.... Not sure how much $$ he wants or gets but again more than $5 mil per (when we have Brandon Dixon(likely our minor league player of the year at AAA))... But I do like Drury... Not sure Bell comes back at all... his OPS as a Padre is like .590.. and that's just terrible
