Padres vs Rockies

Well Machado hits the big one in the clutch (who needs the 2020 ball ... not Manny).

Marcano comes in and gets on base. Pham has two hits (and robbed of a third).

Diaz looked good so far with 3 innings.

Not how we would have expected the game ... but the little pieces are going the Padres’ way so far.

That's the Pham we need. 2 hits so far and good  are running. Stole 2nd tagged up and went to 3rd on a normal flyout. Had heard they would be real careful with Lamet with the very damp and cold weather . Diaz really looks like a completely different pitcher than we've seen before.  Change-up is nasty. Up 8 to 1 , don't let up.

Saw the note that O’Grady was taken out of yesterday’s game after getting called out on an attempted steal ... that may have been a factor.

HR for O'Grady tonight ... so he seems healthy ... just doesn't seem to be hitting well at AAA ... not bad ... just not well ... I'm OK with him getting lots o' playing time at AAA ...

Kudos to the Padres putting it altogether as a team after the news of Tatis - Profar - Mateo. Good sign.

Myers was pulled because he tested positive and Hosmer was pulled due to contact tracing protocols. It seems like if Myers was positive and in the dugout it might not be the end of it with regards to contact tracing either. I'm not sure how that all works though.

No COVID vaccination has been proven to either stop you from getting the virus, or passing it on. It's main job is to keep those vulnerable from getting terribly sick and dying.

And that story about the healthier you are, the worse the reaction to the vaccine, is rubbish. They've discussed it many times  here on the news.

What was the weather like in Denver last night? Maybe Lamet's pitch count had to do with air temperature? But I agree, either he's ready to be a big league starter or not. If he is, give him the ball and let him throw!

Diaz has sure come along at the right time. His numbers seem to show he's doing exactly what the team needs him to do. Any chance he stretches out and becomes part of rotation?

Weren't there a few teams last year that didn't play for a week because of this?

If we had infected players in the dugout, could it happen here?

How many times has Musgrove been used as an extra positional player??????

He's pinch hit, pinch run, played in the outfield.....it's cool he's talented enough to do all these things but doesn't it tell us we're probably short on the bench?

God forbid Tingler have to reign in his abuse of the pitching staff.

In his post game Tingler said that the plan was 2 innings ... implied that the 40 degree temp was considered but the decision appears to be more of what they feel is Lamet’s readiness.

Clearly his FB is well below his 2020 normal and his slider is not as sharp. Arm apparently has a way to go before pushing the innings. Looks as though they will make the call on Lamet game by game.
