The whole covid vaccine thing is a dicey subject.....it's not covered in the CBA and people have a choice to either get it or not and teams cannot force anybody to get one. The vaccine itself causes different reaction in different people and some have minimal side effects and some get knocked flat on their back......for me it was like a full body bruise from riding a roller coaster for 6 hours and getting bounced around and that lasted for 3 or 4 days. Besides that does anybody really know if it actually works or even helps ?
Some would say yes and some would say no and all of the "experts" are all over the board so the only thing I know for sure is that if any politician has his or her lips yapping....it's probably got a good portion of BS in it. Tatis, Profar and Mateo are all young strong guys and they will do their time off and hopefully suffer no lingering effects. I gotta believe this is going to continue to happen through out MLB so maybe getting it out of the way so to speak is a good thing and they are ready to roll the rest of the year

Depending how heavily the pen gets used today, could see O'Grady tomorrow as the "extra" guy for a doubleheader, but I still bet it's another Pitcher.
Pretty sure they can remove Andreoli from roster without going through waivers like normal due to Covid-19 recall.

Remember Paddack supposedly tested positive even though he had been vaccinated. CAN happen; either already in system before the vax, OR vax are never 100% effective; well established for all 3 vaccines in U.S.
As a Manager, I would be nervous about a big chunk of my team getting vax same day in season; side effects are very real & unpredictable. Mine wasn't as bad as 3finger, but I was definitely knocked down for 24 hrs. Some have said the younger, healthier you are the greater the immune response / side effects. Then of course you'd get the macho pro athlete "I'm not missing a day just b/c I got a vax" mentality, but they might only be at 80-90% which is enough to K 3 times instead of making contact & getting a hit/RBI etc. I would be pretty strategic about it; SP day after a start, obviously non-throwing arm, etc.
... But I would think after seeing just 1 teammate being out 10 days (plus remember, Pham & Mateo last year in ST pre-vax), unless a guy had a true pre-existing health condition precluding the vax, they would be pretty nuts not to get it.

Saw the note that O’Grady was taken out of yesterday’s game after getting called out on an attempted steal ... that may have been a factor.

To note I got the Moderna vaccine and had no issues after either the first or second shot.
If I recall correctly, if a player gets the vaccine and has the 24-48 hour reaction ... can be put on the COVID IL for a couple of days and return when feeling better ... not a 10 day IL situation ... think a couple of teams took that route with a few players.
Not sure about Profar and Mateo .... they were not identified as having COVID and it was implied they are part of contact tracing. I guess it is possible that after a negative test they may be back sooner ... sort of like Myers.

Seems like Tatis could have got the shot while out with the shoulder.
So still only 2 innings for Lamet?
I assume they’re just being extra cautious?
But then the question is why even put him in real games?
I guess they could just want the intensity of real action but if he isn’t even gonna go 30 pitches?
Wouldn’t they add a few pitches each outing?

And now Myers is out with a sore throwing arm.
Doesn’t look like a big deal but we gotta go on a win streak...so we need all hands on deck.
Especially need Myers in Coors Field.

Same question here ... guess it was planned (2 innings / max 40 pitches) .... but going with that 3 straight games ???? Did note his FB was not back to his 2020 velo.
In the past expect he would have gone out on a rehab assignment before returning but with COVID hard to send him out (except to EP) I guess.

We need to take advantage of these 6 games with Colorado.
Not lallygag and take them lightly and go 3-3.
We’re hitting the ball hard....just not many falling and these warning track outs are extremely disappointing.
Bring back the 2020 ball!
