Padres vs Reds May 1-3

PreviousPage 2 of 3Next

I'd rather have Snell 6IP 3 runs  x 30 starts 4.50 ERA

Than the version we get 4.5 IP x 25 starts 3.00 ERA

We would win more games with steady QS Snell .. vs up and down 1st half /2nd half

He is 10-0 in games he doesn't walk anyone 0 BBs ...for his career now..

Hopefully he embraces this new him .. dare hitters to hit him..

How about Wilson and Tapia last night..9 up 9 down.. Tapia x 2 IP..

The point is Snell is capable of better than either of those options. He should/could be a 7IP 2.5 runs 2.75 ERA SP.

Snell at age 30 in his 8th ML season is what he is ... a 5 inning pitcher ... inconsistent ... and will deliver a season ERA in the 3.50-4.00 range based on some real highs and some real lows.

No reason to think he can (or will) change that profile.

I am at the point that it is not an issue of commitment by Snell ... but more thinking his mind / body just don't coordinate in a way to provide consistency ... and if the body will not cooperate we get this profile.

I think is 90% Mind tbh.... Body 10%.. when he doesn't think too much aka last night he is very hard to hit.. and as his career shows 0 Walks = a perfect 10-0... His CY year ..I just vinged watch.. he was letting it go, challenging hitters and not walking many while SO a ton.. very consistent and very dominant

CY season- Only season over 180 IP (hell only one over 140).. H/9 less than 6.. BB/9 3.2 (lowest).. K/9 in line with career norms at 11/9.  31 starts.. right at 6 IP per start, little north.. so like I said if he goes 6 IP 3 runs ..(obviously some 2 amd 1s and a few 0 runs allow).. Maybe a handful of games over 4 allowed.. He can be that SP again... of there was ever a yr for him to do that again (with FA and all) 2023 is that yr....

Well, Wacha throws a gem last night. And once again, our sputtering offense wastes another good pitching effort. Manny is really sputtering.

Gotta do something to get this offense clicking.

Was one of those days.

5 times we hit the ball hard (over 100mph ev) only for it to be right at someone.

We had our chances but couldn't get it done.

As long as we end the weekend at 19-16 I'm OK with it.

Yeah I mean Nola, Crone and Manny come to mind as balls that were absolutely barreled with RISP and were outs..

As for Manny sputtering.. he probably had 3 of those barreled balls maybe even 4.. Single ..Run one time.. Lazer to LF that I thought won us the game off the bat.. 1 fair 1 foul warning track oppo outs... If this is sputtering (sure the results are not there) I'll take a sputtering Manny.. especially when all these start to fall.. look at Soto he is at .800 OPS after 8 for 16 + 6 BBs in his last handful of games with a HR and 3 2Bs

It was frustrating as hell tbh..

Felt like a 4 -0 game W..and hurt more when it became a 2-1 loss. The 0-12 RISP is not as bad as 0 for 12.. 4 Balls were absolutely barreled in those at bats..and the CF caught a 30% probability ball off of Jake.. sort of the baseball God's getting even with us for Saturdays game..

Lets Win the Series today..

#LFGXD!

We're right behind the A's ahead of only the Royals and Tigers in BA with RISP. It's actually kind of remarkable that we're 16-15 with how badly the boys have struggled in those situations. They're pretty tough to beat when they do come up with the clutch hits.
