I cant believe that they gave Tatis an error on that throw from RF.
One, that is an extra effort play, should not be an error.
Two, that was an easily catchable throw, IF there was an error to place on that play, should be on Cooper.

Also,how was Snell tagged with 3 earned?
Arraez was standing on 3B when Xander fielded that chopper to Short,then when X sailed it over Coopers head….he ran home to score.
They gave an error for the throw(obviously),shouldn’t that run be unearned?

Another loss … no offense … time running out quickly.
Sadly the Padres sit at 67 losses (10th place in NL) and that is 6 games behind SF-CINN-AZ for the last Wild Card slot and 5 games behind MIA … even if the Padres go on a decent winning run (something we have not seen all season) unlikely all four of those teams play poorly enough to allow the Padres to pass into a Wild Card.
Actually the Padres are closer to 14th place (only ahead of COLO). They are only 1 game ahead of NYM and WASH and 2 games ahead of PITT. Even STL is only 5 games behind. Then consider all those teams clearly gave up at the trade deadline and went to sell mode.

We are in the 5th month of the season and this team is just not coming together … not putting it together in crunch time for a playoff run. Beginning to worry about 2024 given this mix of players.
Consider in August the Padres are 8-12 … only 10th in the NL in wins. Offense remains below average (OPS in August is .711 … 9th in the NL).
Even more indicative of a non-clutch team … in the last 15 days … none of the regulars have an OPS over .800 (that is just above “average”) and many are below.
Then I have to pick on my poster child for non-clutch … Soto. OPS for the season (.884) … for the last 30 days (.757 … about average) … last 15 days (.429 … well below average) and add some incredibly bad base running. I really hope the Padres can sell his YTD stats with his reputation and find a buyer this winter for his probable $30MM contract. This is when the “best hitter since Ted Williams” should be carrying the team but I guess not.
Not a lot of parts the Padres can move to make significant change given the big / long term contracts for under performing players except Soto with only a 1 year commitment.
Frustrating.

I think since it was ruled a single and an error the logic is that Arraez would have scored on the Garcia groundout which would have gotten Bell to 3rd to score on the Chisholm single. I think they generally base the decision on whether or not the runs would have scored before 3 outs were made. I don't think it was very fair in this particular case, but it's probably the best they can do.
