Doesn't look like the Dodgers are gonna slow down anyway...but we want/need the #4 seed at minimum.

It's looking like the Phillies are our only competition for that spot and they have a ways to go.We would have to play pretty poorly the rest of this month for them to catch us.

We just need to stay focused and get our wins.

In fact..it's extremely easy with the only tough part being quite a few games with the Marlins(but they are coming back to earth) and a 3 game series with the Rays.

But the Rays series is the last of the season and they could very well have their seed wrapped up and may rest starters.

So yeah....we gotta keep doing what we've been doing.

FB around 98MPH and Grant said he had the always popular spin rate ... look like a sharp slider. His primary issue as been command ... so maybe a change of environment and Rothchild will improve that aspect and he become an actual upgrade for the pen.

The potential silver lining for the Padres is that PHIL has played 6 less games  than SD ... so they are heading into a long string of games and double headers in September ... plus SD has a 5 game advantage in the win column right now .. a lot to make up ... PHIL has 27 games to play / SD 21 ... both have easy schedules so I would guess if the Padres play over .500 PHIL will not win enough to close the lead.

Of course at a neutral site ... does it make any difference whether a team is the #4 or #5 seed ... play each other anyway.

The only dynamic change in the playoff seed would come from either both PHIL and STL (as of now) pass the Padres  sending them to the 6th seed or COLO passing the Padres sending them to the 7th seed. Go to the 6th or 7th seed and the Padres don't get the LAD until the NL Championship 7 game series ... at the 4th seed get the LAD in second round in a 5 game series.

Simple process ... Padres keep winning and everything takes care of itself.

Then in this year where if they go the bubble route ... no real home field advantage, so probably should only care about getting in to the playoffs and go from there.
