Well the unbridled enthusiasm  based on adding big hitters Soto, Bell, and Drury is being dashed (at least in the small size) ... Bell and Drury are not delivering at all (except for the 1st pitch grand slam to Drury). Even Soto who is hitting .300 with the Padres ... is not lifting the others.

Machado is not helping as the self proclaimed leader ... he is not hitting and if it is because his ankle is still an issue but he refuses to sit and let it heal ... that false bravado actually hurts the team and is not inspiring the rest of team. Playing hurt and being productive may inspire but playing hurt and dragging down the offense might actually annoy the teammates. A fine line between seeing a star playing hurt inspiring teammates and coming across as selfish. Only the teammates can (but won't) say what the think.

Manny has mentioned before in interviews he would not be happy if Hosmer were traded. Is it possible he is throwing a tantrum?

3-1

🙄

Baes loaded no outs…you have got to be kidding me?

Taylor Rogers was stressful to watch?

What did we send to Milwaukee to get our latest one trick pony( i.e. closer)?

Maybe we can find a mysterious injury and send him back?

Happy to see Musgrove get back into his groove and pitch a strong game … was getting worried based on his four previous starts.

Although I knew about Soto’s talents via his stats and media reporting … I never actually saw very much of him playing in games. Now that I have seen him play … I am more impressed than just what the stats provide.

He is very “watchable” … a player that looks as though he loves playing and is happy, enthusiastic … that resonates with the fans and takes his value to the Padres to the next level. He and Tatis will make a dynamic pair.

Machado is different … the on field production is great and fans appreciate that … but he just does not exude that in game joy of playing … not his fault … just differences in personality.

I actually dozed off and missed the middle part of the game.

Woke up to see the 8th and then the Hader implosion.

If Manny hadn’t hit that walk off I was gonna turn it off and try to sleep.

My guess I wouldn’t have been able too…wondering if we walked it off or blew another
