Question is who starts tonight

No way I start Yu.. % wise Yu/Clev/Snell vs Sox is > than Yu vs LAD tonight and Sean/Clev/Snell going vs Sox

Sean

0 3 .000 14.49

Vs LAD though in 2022...

What would I do.. find an IL excuse for Sean.. bring up Wethers (3.96 career ERA vs LAD in 13 IP).. have him go as long as he can be effective and then use the FRESH BP arms tonight..Stanmen/Johnson/Hill/Suarez/Morejon/Wilson to get it done

Then after the game send Wethers back down and bring Cristmat to help the BP last few games..

Time to nut up and get a W tonight

Go Cubs

Go Marlins

And Lets Go San Diego Padres!

All things in perspective. Just listened to a PHIL reporter doing an assessment for the PHIL run for the playoffs. You could have replaced SD for PHIL for every comment made … exact same story.

Pitching is great but the team is not hitting (think they have lost 4 straight with their “stars” not producing at the bat). Still ahead of MILW for the last WC and hold the tie breaker … so not worried yet. Frustrated since PHIL has spent aggressively to build this team.

Basically that is the story line across all MLB … pitching is better and hitting is worse in 2022. Maybe it is the universal humidors … maybe analytics delivering smarter pitchers with bigger FB/spin rates while hitters are not benefiting equally from the analytics.

Sure there are still some hitters who dominate … but it is a team issue and the “middle grade / lower grade” hitters across MLB that seem to be regressing the most.

Maybe the new 2023 rules will help but given the reality of what is evolving … maybe the front office needs to move off past theories of hitting and work on what works in today’s environment (if anything). Maybe a different balance between offense and defense … give a little on defense for a lot more on offense?

Steve Wilson getting the Start tonight

Figure 2 IP.. Sean comes in for x1 through the order ?? That gets us 4 or 5 IP.. then Stanmen (rested) for 2.. Morejon hasn't been used in a while 1.. Suarez had yesterday off.. Closer today...Johnson could set up 8th/Close 9th as well..maybe Hill has an inning in him too

Think the rest of the guys are out having back to back appearances already

So, good pitching beats good hitting? Hmm, where have I heard that before????

Analytics have their place but baseball is still baseball.

That Marine layer kept Soto from having at least 1 HR if not 2 last night..

Lets Win today

Lets Go Cubs

Lets Go Marlins

And Lets Go San Diego Padres!

I think this is a case of mediocre pitching beating bad hitting across the league.
