Looks like Melvin got this right … SAT Musgrove is pitching in either an elimination game or a clinching game at home in SD.

4 innings from Suarez - Martinez - Hader shut the door after a gutty first 5 from Darvish (99 pitches). Came into the game rested and being off tomorrow should have them (and the rest of the pen) ready for FRI/SAT.
Padres are showing they can play with the big boys by beating the Mets and taking the LAD in LA. Let’s just win the next two and win the series in SD in front of a thundering crowds.

Game 5 would be in L.A.
Just win FRI and SAT and avoid going to LA on SUN.
If we end up in a game 5 … not sure the direction a bullpen game goes. I have never been confident in bringing SP back on short rest (maybe a RP in a critical situation at the most). That minimizes the use of Darvish, Snell, and Musgrove. Hopefully on SAT Musgrove goes deep and keeps most of the pen rested for SUN.

With the Padre win yesterday … looks like Roberts wants to line-up Anderson with Musgrove on SAT in what is setting up as the more critical game.
Gonsolin could be vulnerable since he has not pitched much post injury … most think he should max out a 4-5 innings and then Heaney / May.
IF Snell is on his game … a good situation for the Padres.

We’ve had good success with May….let’s hope we get him into the game early.
Gotta root hard for the Phils.
Not only would we rather play them but we would also gain home field advantage for the next round if we both advance.

I fear the Phillies more than I do the Braves.. BUT I rather face the Braves because I want the Pads to be the 1st team in baseball history to win it all playing 4 straight 100+ Win teams.. so Braves and Astros . LETS GO!

Our hitters need to take advantage of Kershaws’ 1st pitch fastballs down the middle.
As many of you know, I very rarely call out Umpires for ball/strike calls. But you are right on with this one Mr.P. I can tell you that on that curve ball to Muncy, he flat out gave up on the pitch, and looked bad when it tumbled into the zone, and not just the edge of the zone either.
Fortunately, we persevered the call (as good teams should) and still won the game. In fact, LA is lucky the score didnt get further out of hand with some great/lucky defensive plays.
