Hopefully Yu settles down and the Ump calls strikes a strike.

Should be 3-1 right now.

Our hitters need to take advantage of Kershaws’ 1st pitch fastballs down the middle.

As many of you know, I very rarely call out Umpires for ball/strike calls. But you are right on with this one Mr.P. I can tell you that on that curve ball to Muncy, he flat out gave up on the pitch, and looked bad when it tumbled into the zone, and not just the edge of the zone either.

Fortunately, we persevered the call (as good teams should) and still won the game. In fact, LA is lucky the score didnt get further out of hand with some great/lucky defensive plays.

Yeah that Nola deep out to CF = 2+ more if not for Bellinger ..and Soto had maybe the unluckiliest night of all 365 ft out 1st AB..2 100+ exit velo line drives to a shifting LUX .. but whatever.. As much as Yu struggled yesterday he should have been up 3-1 and not 3-3 when he was pulled..and also a good 20-25 pitches less.. But thank god we continued grinding and even this thing 1-1..Snell's turn to Bring It Friday night..Lets Go Padres!

Have to give some kudos to Suarez who at age 31 comes over to MLB from a circuitous career that went from Venezuela through Mexico through Japan and has really produced … especially post-All Star break in 24 innings a 1.48 ERA off a 100MPH fastball. He has closer written all over him.

Can opt out of, I think, a $5MM deal this winter … and could get more on a long term deal given the need for closers. Preller has to be targeting Suarez for an extension. With Hader, could be a shut down end of game duo with one available every day.

Probably should also give some kudos to the Pacific Rim scouting that landed Suarez, Martinez, and Johnson out of Japan and Kim out of Korea. Could Senga be next?

I think if Suarez is reworked or opts in.. we maybe looking at a Luis Garcia trade....Steve Wilson has been terrific even more so in high leverage situations and could easily replace Garcia  with Suarez becoming the set up guy... especially if Martinez opts in as well...

Luis Garcia is due like $3.5mil +.. Pomz could be trade material but health issue needs to be resolved so maybe a late Spring trade if healthy.. Adams if healthy could add that depth we see here now... Hill is back, Morejon, and have Baez/Castillo/Cosgrove/Jakob/Flores/Lugo etc..etc.. all on the "next up' list

Might be a flurry of moves at the end of ST among the RP if both Suarez and Martinez are retained. I have written off Adams … his career long health issues (and out of options) makes him a non-tender candidate in my mind just to open a 40 man roster slot … maybe re-signed on a minor league contract. Also think they will take a shot at re-signing Johnson.

Pomeranz in ST will be pivotal. IF he looks healthy (and good) he may be a trade chip … but a $10MM contract and only one year control probably not a big return but clears payroll for others and a roster slot. Alternatively (if no real takers) might open up the route to trade Morejon (low cost / 3 years control) who has the upside and should yield a better return.

Could see a RHRP set of Suarez, Garcia, Wilson, Johnson, Martinez with Crismatt the swing call-up guy or in the pen if Martinez lands the SP slot. That shapes up to be a pretty good pen with Hader - Pomeranz - Hill from the left side. Maybe Morejon / Groome go for the other SP slot. Bottom line is there could be some trade chips … just not sure if can “risk” moving them before ST with injuries known and to be known.

We’ve had good success with May….let’s hope we get him into the game early.

Gotta root hard for the Phils.

Not only would we rather play them but we would also gain home field advantage for the next round if we both advance.

I fear the Phillies more than I do the Braves.. BUT I rather face the Braves because I want the Pads to be the 1st team in baseball history to win it all playing 4 straight 100+ Win teams.. so Braves and Astros  . LETS GO!

Braves have better pithing and a better/deeper lineup.

The Phils have 2-3 hitters that can really do damage...the Braves have 4-5 if not 6....plus better starting pitching.

Plus we get home field advantage against the Phils.

The Braves would be good for me as I may have a chance to go to a game in Atl....but I'd give that up for a better chance to make the world Series.

I want no easy matchups..I want a Historical run Mets..LAD ..Braves and Astros.. The greatest WS run in the History of the Sport..= Padres 1st WS title

I would be so torn but not really if the Padres got past the Dodgers and got to play the Braves in Atlanta....my son has season tickets for the Braves and tells me he has playoff tickets for the Padres/Dodgers vs the Braves

What a added bonus to go visit my son, his wife and the grand kids and make the 90 minute drive down to Atlanta to catch the Padres and Braves.....I have my Braves hat because they are my second favorite team in the NL and I have a Georgia connection ( my son and second home) but I would have to rock my Padres gear 🙂

Lets clean out the Dodgers first then Atlanta is just a flight away 😉

Go Pads !!!

I would rather play the Phillies, but I'm fine playing either of them since it would mean we beat the Dodgers.

This years record, 4-3 v ATL and 3-4 v PHI. And 1998 history suggest that we are better off playing the Braves! 🙂

One day, I was on the ground When I needed a hand

Then it couldn't be found

I was so far down that I couldn't get up

You know and one day I was one of life's losers

Even my friends were my accusers

And in my head, I lost before I begun

I had a dream but it turned to dust

And what I thought was love

That must've been lust

I was living in style

When the walls fell in

When I played my hand

I looked like a joker

Turn around, fate must have woke her

'Cause lady luck she was waiting outside the door

I'm winning

I'm winning

I'm winning

I'm winning

I'm winning

And I don't intend on losing again

It's Fkng On!..3 Wins 10 to go..Lets Go Padres!
