Padres vs Dodgers National League Division Series Oct 10-16
Quote from 3fingersplit on October 11, 2022, 1:35 pmGiven the fact the Dodgers have owned the Padres for the better part of two years.....now would be a perfect time to rise up and punch em in the mouth.....steal a game in LA and finish it off at Petco
This is the scenario that the Padres have been waiting for.....make it happen
Go Pads !!!

Quote from BoosterSD on October 11, 2022, 2:14 pmOn one thinks that SD can do this.
So to quote one of the best managers ever, Lou Brown "So, I'd like to hang around and see if we can give 'em all a nice big shit burger to eat."

Quote from TarheelPadre on October 11, 2022, 7:02 pmAnd unfortunately Clevinger made the roster this round for us.
Once you get past the ridiculous body movement in his delivery, his stuff is extraordinarily average.

Quote from 3fingersplit on October 11, 2022, 8:28 pmClevinger sure didn't have it tonight....can't get in a 4-0 / 5-0 hole against the Dodgers and they swing really loose when they get ahead....always looking for mistakes to pound
Gotta get something going soon

Quote from WindsorUK on October 11, 2022, 9:53 pmI'd prefer not to see Clevinger again this season.
And only if he comes in at a very low salary would I like to see him next year.

We need something from Soto and Machado to beat the duds.

Quote from WindsorUK on October 12, 2022, 5:22 amIt's hard to fathom Soto not producing at least one game as a Padre where he doesn't carry us to victory??? I honestly can't think of one game where the supposed next Ted Williams has carried us to a victory with his bat?
Every other guy on the roster has at least one game where they've been the difference- except Soto. Totally unacceptable for a $20 million + plus salary( isn't that the reason we got rid of Hosmer????)
That kid better figure out to hit with authority, preferably before tonight's game.

He had a nice series in NY... we are facing 3 straight lefties here...so his best chance to shine is to get into the LAD BP (like last night) He was a table setter last night drew the BB before Manny's swinging bunt.. we didn't get them in .. that was a key moment when Bell PH for Drury and SO vs doing something to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd... I would have left Drury in and bunted..as Drury is an avg bunter and Bell is not...Wil's ball would have plated 2 if the IF was in..and 1 if Lux makes the same play..no DP and Jake *who did well yesterday, up next..
Anyway if you ask me after 5 Clev vs Urias we were down 2-0 (5-3 same thing).. 💯 of us including Padres would have taken that.. we had our chances.. we wasted at least 1 elite BP arm for LAD for tonight.. and we out hit the LAD 7 to 6 so it was still a productive game...
Now we need YU to be YU and bring a 1-1 series back home.. where Snell (vs LAD =great) and Musgrove can end it.. and if Sunday is needed YU can go 5-6 on 4 day rest..
Lets Go San Diego Padres!

Quote from fenn68 on October 12, 2022, 7:34 amReally disappointed in Soto given his national “hype”. What concerns me more is his 2022 season … starting with his WASH stats … shows a notable change from his 2018-21 stats that earned him his rep. In SD, just got worse.
2018-21: 301/432/550 (982). 18.6% BB … 17.6% K
2022 (WASH): 246/408/485 (893). 20.9% BB … 14.2% K
2022 (SD): 236/388/390 (778). 19.3% BB … 14.9% K
Also different is that the PULL % is about 50% higher than previous years (both OPP and CENT dropped) and the FB % is up (both GB and LD dropped).
Hard to figure cause and effect … but that OPS drop in 2022 is season long … BA/SLG plummeted … the head scratcher is while hitting more FB and pulling more the result is lower SLG. Bottom line his hitting profile has changed on multiple levels … is that just something internal with him or has the league just found a more effective way to pitch to him.
