Padres vs Diamondbacks September 5-7

Well they have to try something ... and getting Soto in the middle of the line-up and "forcing" him to swing the bat may unleash his past success as a middle of the order hitter.

However, bit concerned that the small sample size at PETCO (37 AB) may not be reliable as to his current production.Maybe more concern (overall) his trend is going the wrong way:

Last 30 games 408 OBP/394 SLG

Last 15 games 364 OBP / 294 SLG

Last 7 games 323 OBP / 087 SLG

Going in the wrong direction after a better First 15 games.

Maybe that is a better reason to get him out of the #2 slot ... and maybe not ahead of Machado ... where he may be overly conservative trying to take a walk to get on base for Machado and, if the pitchers sense that, just go after him and are getting him out.

I want the big hitter from WASH driving in runs and being clutch difference maker ... not working up in the line-up ... so return him to the middle and hope for the best. And frankly, based on his reputation it should make no difference if he is hitting at PETCO or on the road. Plop him at #4 behind Machado and ahead of Bell and see where that goes ... if they still don't hit a bigger problem.

Padres pre-Soto really did not have an OBP issue ... it was driving those guys in. Profar gets on base and at so in most cases so do Kim and Cronenworth ... so some combo of them for the first 2 slots depending on the pitcher I guess..

Well, lead off home run, 3 up/3 down, and Musgrove is struggling.

This game is over, Mr. P. save yourself the headache and go to bed early.

Flat out embarrassing.

Three HR off the #1 SP (I guess some batters can hit at PETCO) and twelve up / twelve down for the Padres with nothing even exciting off the bat.

Musgrove departs after 99 pitches in 4 1/3 innings … not one of his best outings.

May make the playoffs … but don’t deserve it the way they are playing.

Just tuned in....another scintillating performance from the AJ Preller created offense.

Yes, there are actually players in major league baseball that CAN hit in Petco Park. Shame our GM hasn't traded for any.......

Nobody will say it so I will.....this hitting coach has got to go....he has three or four things he is responsible for and he has failed in all of them.

Firing the hitting Coach has never worked.

We’ve tried it many times and the next one is never any better.

If they do get another hitting coach, I would think they should take a shot at Soto's/WAS hitting coach.

Maybe tomorrow even, get Bell and Soto back on track.

You da man Mr P, you da man!!

Soto not coming through in the clutch has become a theme.

Even when we just need a sac fly.
