So, no to Margot then?
The Pads really have no one else at AAA knocking on the door so that means we're stuck with Myers and Pirella manning the corners. That can not give the pitchers a fuzzy feeling.
This is a throw away year anyways, might as well see if Manny can figure it out.
You're right though, Cordero has a HUGE upside. I hope he succeeds.

Expect the outfield to morph into Cordero (LF) - Margot (CF) - Myers (RF) over the next few months with Renfroe getting spot appearances as the 4th OF.
Margot (off to a horrible start) is not going away for any length of time ... only 23. Last year of CF with 400 PA he was 21st per WAR (at age 22) and 5th in defensive WAR. Might get a SHORT retune in AAA but not likely.
Cordero also only 23 ... strikes out too much (if that really concerns the team) and is questionable defensively in the OF pushes Pirela out of LF (Padres love him but his offense / defense is heading him to part time roles ... and some 2B). Seen enough of Cordero to see some impressive LH extreme power / hard hit balls both lacking at the Padres major league level.
Bad team ... both Margot and Cordero are in OJT (maybe with Renfroe) with the illusive "nothing to prove in AAA". No one to challenge either in AAA or AA ... so they better develop (they will have the time).

Pirella is a professional hitter but I would be fine with him playing some 2b and only in LF against tough lefties.
Of the two I would prefer to see Cordero playing every day.
Cordero-Margot-Myers
Pirella 2b/lf
Renfroe 5th OF/PH or trade for prospect/s.
Maybe package Renfroe and Naylor to a AL team?

Margot doesn't look good so far. Any benefit to sending him back to AAA for 3 weeks? I think if he spends about that much time in the minors, we gain an extra year of control...Im not certain that is the case since his clock started Sept '16. Could use his poor start as an excuse.

He'd need to be down for about 35 days to add another year of control. At least as the current system stands.
But the chances that the system will be the same under the new CBA when he reaches free agency range from none to nonexistent.

So here we are after the 4th and the last place team playing the First Place team in the NL West in a four game
series leading into the All Star break
Would it be to much to ask to at least win one of the four ?

It looks as if we're getting solid starting pitching( Richard, Ross, Luchessi, Lauer), our pen has softened up a bit but still strong, but our offense is just dire!
How many of our front line players would be starting elsewhere? Batting averages are anemic, there's no power, no one is even getting on base! So, as bad as you think Andy is, I'm not sure anyone could win with this group.
Let's start the clock on Urias, let's get Tatis up here sooner rather than later. I know it needlessly starts the clock on these guys but we need SOMETHING! I know, let's see if we can redo the Matt Kemp trade! Guy's the best hitter in the national league this year! So happy he's on our payroll- shame he's not actually in our lineup.

Offense has been our problem for so many years I’ve lost count.
We just can not develop hitters to save our lives.
Everytime we think we’ve got a hitter coming up they are gone in two years.

So I have the over/under on strikeouts for Ray at 10.
