Padres vs. D-Backs

PreviousPage 5 of 5

I'm not excusing the AWFUL blown save.  But Pads had their chances to pad that lead.  Manny is the one guy on the team who feels like he has to be the one to "do it" instead of letting the game come to him; his K on pitch in the dirt when the RP had already walked a couple of guys was TERRIBLE.  Would have had bases loaded, 1 out, Tatis up.

On Hedges not great bunt, MAYBE you send Tatis or Mateo on that, but not Cronenworth.  He had the time to see he wouldn't make it & get back.

For those tracking .... not a Manny fan ... not for the Padres.

On the safety squeeze .... Tingler called the play and my understanding it was up to Cronenworth to go or not to go based on the read of the bunt. Rule of thumb is you don't go if the but is direct to the pitcher ... which it was. Poor bunt but the fault is the bad read by Cronenworth.

Agree.  The safety squeeze was a good managerial call, especially with Hedges batting, but Cronenworth should not have gone.  His/Glenn Hoffman (?) decision.

Going into the season I would've never thought bullpen would be a huge weakness. Preller did such a good job adding pieces, It all falls on the players not performing

This one really hurts, I need to take a couple of days off to cool down

That was the worst loss of the year b/c we needed to stop the bleeding, would've been >.500, etc.

That specific loss is killing me, but the randomness of injuries that would have been just a portion of the season, now = the rest of thes season is not.  Just random good or bad luck in this weird year.

Cronenworth's call .. play in front of him and has to be an instant decision.

Wasn't a good day for the kid (also struck out with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out) but he's had more good days than bad and, in my opinion, has greatly exceeded expectations.   Do we have enough talent and resiliency to carry us over this rough patch?  Myers still out today against Texas and probably again tomorrow.  Let's put a total team effort together because we're going to need it!

Go Padres!
