About what I was expecting today.
Got my hopes up when it was 3-2 late in the game.
Have to just hope for the next two.
But man……we need a few Bats!

I was getting that "comeback" vibe in the 9th then Hosmer ended it with one swing...would have loved to have seen Voit with the bases loaded and 1 out...but RP need to give up 1 run or less when coming in 3-2...

Can someone explain to me what happened in Machado's AB?????
He swings and misses, Yadi drops the ball, Azocar steals second......all of a sudden Azocar gets sent back?????
Molina clearly drops the ball WAY before any contact from Manny( I didn't actually see ANY contact!) so the supposed interference has absolutely ZERO impact on the outcome of the play.
I don't get it.

From what I can tell, it was probably either "back swing" interference or offensive interference.
That is where the batters follow through of the swing interferes with the catchers ability to make a play on the runner. I would imagine that they called it a swinging strike, that was caught, and then dropped on the transfer to throw which is why Manny was out, and then the back swing/follow through interference, the play becomes a dead ball incident, which is why the runner had to go back to 1B.

In fact, the umpire on 2nd base for this game, called one of his first games ever with me at a little league game here in the Phoenix area. He and I talked for an hour or so after the game, on whether he should pursue umpiring as a profession or go to medical school. I think I pushed him in the right direction! 🙂

Or he would have gone on to cure Cancer if he had chosen the Medical field.
