Appreciate the HR last night, but that excuse me tapper to the pitcher with tying run on base sums up his Padres career for me.  Ton of talent but isn’t the professional he needs to be.  Even with his struggles over the last few years, he hasn’t tried anything different or changed his approach to improve his game.  Took his contract and is content.  Losers mentality.

As much as Tingler did well managing his first two games, he did poorly in this one and it could have an adverse effect on tomorrow's game.  Mejia should have started in place of Hedges and the line-up should basically been the same as the first game.   Poor decision to have all 3 potential closers - Pagan, Pomeranz and Yates in a tie game - too shortsighted given the many games to play in a short span.  Would have brought in Perdomo in lieu of Yates or earlier in lieu of either Pagan or Pomeranz.  Naylor did look bad but I know he is a better hitter than that and I would have put him in the starting line-up also.  Padres had a lot of chances to win the game, but no clutch hitting and some good defensive plays off of Pham hard hit balls sealed the defeat.  Tatis and Machado need to do more and they are better when they hit back to back.  Arizona is a good team, but we had the game in our grasp.

Hope we get better result tomorrow.

that situation is an automatic take a pitch...the guy on the mound is wobbling and Meyers lets him off the hook. I can see it if it is a rookie and just the pressure of being in a big league game is on but pressure is what you feel if you don't know what in the hell you are doing,,,,,Meyers should not have had ANY pressure on him unless of course he forgot it's a team game and decided it was all him....just a really bad look....

I am going to focus on the “$30 million” man ... Manny Machado. He is the one who was signed to be the difference maker (now the 6th highest contact in MLB). Last season he “under performed” at PETCO and against RHP. So far, his .182 BA (9th on the team) and .308 OBP (10th on the team) is worrisome. Against RHP he is 1 for 6 with 4Ks and, overall, his 6 K leads the team.

Machado is starting 2020 like he played in 2019 .... and that a concern for the a player signed as the cornerstone of the team.
