Padres @ Rockies June 9-11

Typical Coors Field game , up 8-1 and ends with the tying run at the plate in the 9th .

Garcia activated ... Tapia optioned.

Nola catching / Sanchez DH. The rest looks "normal".

At 6-1 I was still worried it wasn’t enough.

It wasn’t.

Luckily the bats never quit

Thank HEAVENS for FTJ!

Still think Cronenworth should be batting behind him.

A Machado, Soto, Sanchez, Bogaerts middle of the lineup looks good on paper.

Series Win.. chance for our 2nd sweep of the season (other one was a 2 gamer in Mexico)

Nice to win a low scoring game. That hasn't happened very often this season. Another frustrating effort with RISP, but they made the 1 hit that they did get count. Can't be mad at getting a win out of a surprise bullpen day in Colorado.

Yeah I think BoMel use of the P today was brilliant..

Nola had the key BB but left 2nd and 3rd and 1st and 2nd .. in previous 2 ABs..seemed like the wrong side of the lineup kept coming up w/RISP.. except for when Nando led off with a 2B and got stranded.. and when Manny lead off with a double and got stranded.. the "unproductive" (didn't move Manny to 3rd) out by Gary.. followed by a deep fly ball by Crone cost us a run... but can't be to critical of Gary tbh.. dude has been delivering..

Manny hustling in the 1st set the tone for a gutsy team win.. with Manny and Tatis being the catalyst from both sides..

Got the Broom ready... We Ride ..Lets Go Padres!

Against Lamet (and likely a string of RP) … Padres line-up is slightly unusual for them.

#1-5 sit the best hitters: Tatis; Soto (L); Machado; Sanchez; Bogaerts

#6-9 are the poorest hitters this season and all LHH: Cronenworth (L); Odor (L); Carpenter (L): Grisham (L).

Not common for them (or most teams) to bunch a string of LHH vs splitting them up. Padres must think that may be effective vs the RH Lamet and are not worried about the LHP in the Rockies pen (Hand and Suter pitched yesterday).

Good chance we are seeing the beginnings of a fixed batting order with Kim coming in for Odor and Cruz/Dixon in for Carpenter v LHP. At least “fixed” until a player turns hot or cold over an extended period.

Today is not Juan Soto's lucky day.
