Not to be too dramatic but I'm thinking this is a REALLY good series to make a statement.

Top notch front line pitching, shut down bullpen, speed and chaos on the basepaths, and some thunder from the lumber!

Let's leave the stench of the first 60 games in Denver.

Let's go Pads!

I was just thinking....if someone had told me a 3 game series in the beginning of June against the last place Rockies would be an important series I would have told them they were crazy.

But it is.

The casual fans are already jumping ship......imagine if we post a horrible showing this weekend.

All that Seidler has done to generate excitement and a winning culture could be in jeopardy.

We here aren't going anywhere, but we need to keep the excitement for Padre baseball alive all season and "in to the playoffs".

Plus the dang Rockies always play us tough.......as do pitchers like Gomber.

I hate to bring the negative energy...and I'm really not...but maybe we should just walk Blackmon every time up just to be sure.

🙂

From your keyboard to Gods ears!!!!

Austin Gomber has a 6.99 ERA. Freeland is at 4.06 and Lamet is at 12.42. They have the second highest team ERA in baseball. They give up almost 6 runs a game at home. Cron and Bryant are out. They've lost 4 in a row and 8 out of their last 10. If the team is ever going to find some offensive consistency and get on a roll this would this would seem to be the time. Going into Coors always makes me a little nervous though. It's the biggest homefield advantage in baseball. The Rockies are 15-17 at home and 11-21 on the road.

Now check Gombers' ERA against San Diego.

I don't have it handy but they were talking about it on the radio this morning and in about 1o starts it's something like 2.25

Considering 1/2 of those were probably in Coors field.....that's concerning.

Soft tossing lefties always worry me.

I also wish we didn't have that day off after that good game on Wed.

Let's break the trend and score 10 again eh?

Unconfirmed but apparently the Padres are making an IL call on Bogaerts before today's game ... want the extra player in Colorado and if he can't go a retro IL may be in the offing.

Iglesias was out of the EP line-up yesterday and could be the back fill (would need a 40 man move). Iglesias was a .290 hitter for COLO last year and would give that middle INF support with Kim at SS and potentially going with Odor at 2B/Cronenworth at 1B.

Just a rumor so far ... but makes some sense.

Gomber has definitely dominated us in the past. Hitters also have put up a 1.001 OPS against him in Colorado this year, so maybe our fortunes change this time around.

Bogaerts convinced the Padres he is ready to play and is in the line-up tonight batting 6th and playing SS.

9 runs.. Win.. 💯 Win for Yu.. Great outburst vs Gomber.. 2 in a row.. Lets Go!
