Padres @ Pirates June 27-29
Quote from sportwarrior on June 28, 2023, 9:41 pmI think I'm done, guys. Maybe Mr. Padre is the only one that knows how heavy a statement that is given our history dating back to the ESPN board, but I'm done. We just went 1-4 in 5 games against teams that were 4-22 vs the rest of the league. We are done. This team is fatally flawed in ways we will never understand. I'm done.

Quote from Alex Tamayo on June 28, 2023, 10:21 pmI have been done since the start of the Nats series, just scoreboard a couple of times, but not really interested right now, probably will sell the rest of the games included in my season ticket package

Padres are on their streak … a 4 game losing streak and have a 3-7 record in the last 10 games tied for worse in the NL.
Now 8 games in the loss column out of a wild card slot and have to pass 5 teams to get the last slot. Actually closer to last place (7 games better than COLO in loss column).

Quote from 3fingersplit on June 29, 2023, 8:47 amHaving been a padres fan since 1969 I’m as frustrated as everyone else but I won’t give up on this team.
I do believe that the baseball gods are not happy because of two things that happened this year….one is when Nick Martinez quit on team USA and two is when they put that stupid meme on the scoreboard of Kershaw crying…just really bad karma and I do believe in karma
just my opinion but it will turn and just have to keep the faith
Go Padres

I really believe that a couple of tweaks ( I've mentioned them a couple of times already) could make a difference THIS season.
AJ needs to pull a trigger NOW....or I'd certainly expect Seidler to pull one in October.

I am at a loss at what Preller can do NOW to improve the team … no indication that any team is selling yet … no idea who may even be available that fits a Padre needs … and who do the Padres have that would make a team trade a quality player before the full market develops?
At best, might get a different bench piece to replace Dixon or Odor … a player that is probably carrying an over priced contract … sort of like Carpenter.

It might have to be trades of MLer for MLer. A piece were SD has plenty like INF (think Kim) for a team that has something of need for SD.
Or might have to be some three team trades.
Preller can get creative.

Quote from BoosterSD on June 29, 2023, 12:26 pmI dont think you could even create more ways to lose a game than this team is doing right now.
PATHETIC!!!!!

Quote from fenn68 on June 29, 2023, 12:58 pmTerrible … same formula for most of the season
1. SP is outstanding
2. IF the offense scores it is early then goes dormant later in the game
3. IF the offense does not score early … it remains dormant for the game.
The one big change the usually quality pen (near the top of the league all season) imploded again.
Complain about the pen … OK … but the one on-going theme is no offense … even today the offense came from Kim (SF and HR) and Grisham (2 run HR) … no impact from the big 5 off what is an inferior PITT pitching staff (one of the worst pens in the baseball).
