Well the pre-All Star schedule may make the call if the Padres are going to be sellers:

3 with CINN (in CINN) and they are leading the NL Central with a strong winning record

3 with LAA (in SD) and they are contending for that Wild Card slot and the Padres face Ohtani on Monday

3 with NYM (may be my favorite match-up) … a team that right now has basically the same record as SD and is having similar fan unrest as an over hyped team before the season with a world record payroll.

Going to be tough to start a winning streak against that trio of teams.

Even if they tread water … they come out of the All-Star break with 4 against PHIL (on the verge of making the Wild Card as first out) and 3 against TOR who is also contending for a Wild Card Slot … both with winning records.

I am at a loss at what Preller can do NOW to improve the team … no indication that any team is selling yet … no idea who may even be available that fits a Padre needs … and who do the Padres have that would make a team trade a quality player before the full market develops?

At best, might get a different bench piece to replace Dixon or Odor … a player that is probably carrying an over priced contract … sort of like Carpenter.

Oh no, I'm not suggesting we ADD, I'm suggesting we have addition by subtraction.

Get rid of guys that don't help us win ( Soto, Snell, Hader) but could possibly have  value to teams making a run this year( just like we did last year with Soto, Hader)

All I want is young, controllable guys to augment Tatis, Machado, Yu, Musgrove, Kim....
