Wasn't Weathers the 27th man for the double header? I'm pretty sure he can be recalled. I don't think the rules apply to that situation.

Suarez has been activated. Waldron was optioned and Castillo has been DFAd to make room on the 40 man.

Right ... forgot that.

That is a combo I did not expect.

Castillo apparently has not developed enough and he is out of minor league options for 2024 ... apparently that move him to the bottom of the 40 list for DFA.

Would appear that Waldron being optioned would open the door for a return of Weathers ... not sure of the timing of the need for that spot in the rotation but did see that Avila (who was starting and had a spot start with the Padres) pitched an inning in relief) and maybe being set up for the call-up?

Baseball can be a cruel game. I thought Castillo had a bright future when he first came up. He's just been decimated by injuries. Thinking about him reminds me of Baez too. Two guys I thought were going to play big roles for us.

Castillo seems like a guy who probably goes unclaimed and re-signs. Where ever he ends up I just hope he can stay healthy enough to still carve out some kind of a big league career.

Snell has to be the most frustrating successful SP in MLB. Goes only 5 innings and yields 7 walks with over 100 pitches … but limits a good hitting playoff team in TOR to only one run.

No offense again so pressure lands on the bullpen again to hold for four innings if they want to win.

Bob Melvin has to be the only guy left that has any faith in Garcia and Carpenter.

I cannot believe this offense. 2 runs on one broken bat single in the last 18 innings. 6 hits today, 3 coming from X. Runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out, runners in 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs... zero runs. This team finds ways to be terrible.

This series is a perfect example of why we should sell at the trade deadline. Yes, we won the series and against a playoff caliber team. However, look at how we did it. A blow out in the 1st game, and squeaker last night (ok a playoff type win), and then todays clunker. 9, 2, and 0. The most mind numbing, exciting, inconsistent team Ive ever seen.

SELL!!! SELL!!! SELL!!! SELL!!! SELL!!!

Is it Melvin or, in reality, Preller who makes the decision as to whether they are on the 26 man or not?

Melvin may have zero faith in the two but has to use them at some point (especially Garcia) so as to not burn out the rest of the team ... and maybe make a point to Preller to make a move or two. Preller may be on his case to use them ... Preller is the boss.
