bob (California):

Thoughts on Owen Miller. Can he be top prospect in the system?

Kyle Glaser: Owen Miller can hit. Period. A natural comp is Paul DeJong seeing as they were both Illinois State guys. Like DeJong, it wouldn't shock me if Miller gets under-ranked a lot and ends up being a more consequential big leaguer than many other raw, toolsy guys people dream on. He's a good one and the Padres feel like they got a steal.

For the record ...

Maybe just a ML utility guy (maybe more) but Owen Miller's slash line of 305/362/429 in AA as a 22 year old in his first full season out of college is very very impressive ... especially as a "only" a 3rd round pick in last years draft. Even most early 1st round picks out of college don't get that early level of success.

Scouts said he could hit ... could be they were right.

Might become a key cog backing up Urias - Tatis - Machado off the bench and PH.

From yesterday's DFR ...

Owen Miller also had three hits and he scored two runs in the Sod Poodles’ loss. Miller’s big night extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Overall, Miller is hitting .280/.345/.410 in August.

Finally something to cheer about in the AFL ... an Owen Miller HR!

Not the AFL performance I/we were hoping for 🙁

Sergio Q (Tijuana, Mexico):

If Profar struggles, who do you give the best shot of staying as a starter at 2B between Miller, Cronenworth, Quiroz & France?

Kyle Glaser: Miller.
