I know most of us just want to make a trade not sure what is being discussed with Seattle makes sense TO SEATTLE.
1. Mariners have been unloading contracts greater the 2 years and getting payroll relief .... they would not consider Myers who at 4 years / $64MM especially with an OF of Bruce - Smith - Haniger and Santana / Healey for 1B/DH there is no real reason to add him. IF the moved Seager, they have no 3B replacement .... they are better off keeping Seager and his 3 year $56MM deal.
2. They may be willing to deal Leake (2 years / $31MM) but are you sure you want Leake ... 31 years old coming off a > 4.00 ERA ... maybe take the gamble but just take most of the contract and give little in prospects (e.g. Kennedy or Perdomo). Can't see why they would deal Gonzalez who is making $900K and has 5 years control ... there is not all that much more long term payroll they need to shed. They could be in better shape tying to deal Bruce and Santana at the trade deadline or next winter and get a better return.
Oddly, except for pitching, Seattle has a good line-up: Navarez (C); Santana (1B); Gordon (2B); Crawford (SS); Bruce (LF); Smith (CF); Haniger (RF). Could argue that is a more potent offense than what we will see in SD in 2019.

I was thinking about Senzel.
If the Reds do sign Pollock(plus have Suarez at 3b) and therefore don't really have a position for Senzel right away,maybewe could work out a swap involving Potts?
I really like Potts so don't really want to trade him...I think he's gonna continue to improve,but if they don't have a spot for Sensel "right now" maybe getting Potts who would be ready in two years....along with a good pitching prospect,might be doable?
Potts/Quantrill for Senzel?
Would that be enough?
Note:I add Quantrill to most of my ideas because he is pretty highly ranked but I just don't have faith he will be more than a #5 starter.
I'm thinking he has more value to us as a trade piece.
I would love to be wrong...especially if we end up keeping him.

Think its a little light for CIN. And I dont think they are getting Pollock.
Margot, Potts, Quantrill, and MiL SP outside of top 100 for Senzel or Suarez. Maybe they want to send Suarez since Senzel is cheaper longer? Im fine with either.

I think you're either way over valuing Senzel or under valuing our own guys.
Senzel is a top prospect for sure.....but you just don't trade 4 for 1 for a prospect especially when your including major league players.
Take Margot out and you may be right....Potts/Quantrill/another P.....for Senzel.
The difference between trading for Senzel or Suarez is like night and day.
Suarez would cost a couple major league players AND a couple top prospects.
Senzel would not.
For example....Gore for Senzel would just about be an even trade.
Ones #6 and the other #13...but one is also a LH starting pitcher.
But Gore alone would not get you Suarez.

I don't think CINN is even considering moving Suarez ... all-star quality and a team friendly longer term deal to make room for Senzel and unproven prospect. IF they did ... think it would be for a major proven ML SP plus.
Suarez (27) pumped out an .892 OPS last year with quality defense ... signed a long term deal with CINN at very team favorable salary extending through 2025 .... he is a lock to stay in CINN.
I will keep going back to IF they move Senzel it will be for a ML (ML ready) quality SP as the key. The Potts, Renfroe, even Quantrill pieces just are not going to do it. Maybe a Paddack / Margot package makes more sense.
Senzel's future may rest most on CINN extending Gennett for 2B ... if not Senzel is their 2B for the next 6 years. (and no, throwing in Asuaje will not convince them to deal).

I don't think they'd trade Suarez either...but his name keeps coming up and i just wanted to point out the
difference in cost between him and Senzel.
If the Reds don't get Pollock then they probably won't move Senzel either.
But we can hope.
I'd rather the Braves decide to move Camargo or Riley but that's not looking promising either.
Guess I'm just ready for some moves to happen...maybe for Christmas?

Preller interview this morning ... obviously no specifics but did suggest that they will have a pretty good idea of their INF plan in the next 10 days. The following is my interpretation of reading between the lines:
a. he likes Myers defensively in LF and appreciated his effort at 3B last season which sounds like 3B is a last resort but would not have a problem with him in LF if he cannot be dealt (or if Renfroe is the easier trade).
b. is not settled on the INF strategy but, although leaving wiggle room, implied that Tatis would be best served by starting 2019 in AAA since he has not played above AA. They have had scouting staff in the Dominican to observe and he apparently is healthy after the surgery and his swing if fine.
c. finding a 3B is a priority (not a real surprise).
d. Likened the Garrett Richards' signing to the Eovaldi signing by TB a couple of winters ago ....

So we had to lose Asuaje so Richards could go into the 60 day DL and rehab for a year.

Asuaje is a guy I’m not sad see go, but I think he could have success elsewhere. I really liked what I saw from him in spring training. Despite his lack of success with Padres he does have a pretty sweet swing and I thought he was showing more patience at the plate.
