Latest report the 4th pitcher is Randy Vasquez (25) RHP who was with the NYY part of last season. Starter for the most part but RP potential.
A legit prospect with a mid-90s FB and apparently a great curve (high spin rate).
So King, Brito, and Vasquez have all touched the ML and were effective … so upside is there for 2024. They could all be considered SP and, stretching a bit, filling out the #3-5 slots in the rotation to start the season and if necessary replaced by Thorpe, Snelling, or Iriate mid-season. Spend no more money on pitching and really shift to a CF/LF/DH? Beyond Lee … stun the fans with Bellinger … Gurriel… or some other unknowns for Japan or Korea?

He batted better as the DH last season, Kim is just fine defensively at 3B. Bogaerts is happy because he stays at SS, and Crone returns to his best position, 2B.
Just need a CF, LF, and a 1B at that time.
Not opposed to the idea myself, but Machado brings a certain electricity to 3B that I think the fan base at large would miss. Plus, I don't think he'd want to leave the field. He takes way too much pride in his defense to DH full time.

I don’t think Manny would happy with that … and really don’t want Manny unhappy and pouting all season.
Manny … even if unhealthy … will demand to return to 3B even if it hurts the team because he is Manny.

Juan Soto trade agreement is being finalized now, source confirms.
The deal, as @JackCurryYES and @Joelsherman1 reported, sends Soto and Trent Grisham to New York for Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez, and Kyle Higashioka. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Don't get the Higashioka part AT ALL?
Unless they're twisting AJ's arm, this just doesn't make ANY sense.
Absolutely ZERO offense, taking on money, we have solid defensive, no hit catchers in our system already....
And worst of all, if this pushes Sanchez out of the picture, we now need to go find a DH( Sanchez obviously spells Campusano at C, and DH's with Profar/Carpenter)
Interesting to hear why the hell they took him( all defense, no hit catchers are a dime a dozen)
Edit: also found out he's 33 years old???? Man, head scratcher here.

From what I understand, he is exceptionally good defensively. Plus, helps offset the money for Grisham. So he is back up C, Sanchez can still come in as DH with Carpenter. And then would have an emergency C in Sanchez.

NYY have about 6 catchers on the roster … so they were motivated to include the catcher and shave a bit off what they take on with the no hit Grisham. Probably some NY fans are saying why are they taking Grisham at $5MM to be a 4th OF (at least that is the report).
Would not be surprised if the Padres signed some veteran catcher for EP as insurance with Sullivan.

We could really use Sanchez's bat so would definitely want he and Profar in the rotation of DH/1B

Just to keep us hanging on … a report that Cashman and Boone have left the meetings and are heading to the airport … with no deal finalized.
Does not mean the deal is off … maybe means the deal is done except for paperwork that does not need them in Nashville plus, if done, need to notify the players before any official announcement (at least that is the custom.
