Cease comes with an $8MM contract … that fits nicely for remaining under the CBT threshold of $237MM … with Cease the Padres (per Fangraphs) are at $224MM and even leaving a $5MM cushion for mid-season call-ups / adds they still have potentially $8MM to deploy … and that should be enough to land Duvall or Pham on a one year deal (should be less).

For whatever it's worth, the "among others" language was added by MLBTR and wasn't sourced from the original Morosi tweets. Unlikely those are the only two names headed to CWS, but also we haven't actually heard they aren't the only two names from an actual source.

Yep but is iriate in it along with Thorpe? What are the offensive pieces? Rotation looks good with Cease but what did we give up?

That is pretty close to the rumored Texas pieces in Porter and Leiter … maybe slightly better depending on who is making the projection.
So all things being equal … who is slightly better than Duran (a ML player, turning 25, and more of a poor fielding utility guy). Maybe a 3rd pitcher?

Bummed for him personally (he seemed to enjoy it here), but not a name that moves the needle for me. So far my heart hasn't stopped over what we're sending to CWS.

I'm guessing most of us end up sick to our stomach once the dust settles on this trade.
None of these multi player deals have gotten us to the WS.
Definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.
