OFFSEASON 2023-24
Quote from 3fingersplit on March 13, 2024, 4:42 pmI actually said a couple of months ago that Cease would be a target for AJ and it sounds like it’s going to happen but at what cost…I know he has flipped some of our top prospects…Marsee and a pitcher plus?
I like the get but hate what he’s giving up…the saving grace is that they go to the American League
I have a bad feeling about this one…3-4-5 for one never works out for us

Quote from sportwarrior on March 13, 2024, 4:45 pmI'm sort of hoping he spun Thorpe and/or Vasquez and didn't give up much in the way of our OG kids.

But AJ is crap at the 3/4 for 1's!

Quote from fenn68 on March 13, 2024, 4:57 pmPlaying to win now is a good thing with the other “stars” under contract and actually pretty close to a strong playoff team … probably will not like who they gave up but that is part of the game.
I guess they will focus on pitching … don’t think Marsee since CWS does not have a major need for a CF … but maybe it is Snelling, the highest rated, and that may in turn reduce the quality of the 2nd / 3rd pieces which may have a benefit in the future.

Morosi tweets Thorpe is going to the CWS … easy come easy go. Nothing on the other pieces but if Thorpe is the “lead” probably “saved” Snelling and Lesko.

You all know how much I absolutely hate these 3-4-5 for 1 trades…I get it…prospects are exactly that…prospects but after AJ fleeced the White Sox for Tatis…I’m worried they are looking for payback.
I was driving back to San Diego from Peoria after three days catching games and the amount of scouts watching the young guys was ridiculous…6 hours back to San Diego and all I could think about was who was being showcased and how many is AJ going to flip to fill out the roster and to be honest it made me sick…I have to believe that at least two of our top pitching prospects along with Marsee and an infield type…I love it getting a starting pitcher but hate watching the future go out the door

If Thorpe is the biggest chip lost, I’m okay with this, he will be a starter but doesn’t have the biggest ceiling anyways. Hoping Pauley or Marsee aren’t involved.

Musgrove—Hader—Darvish—Snell we’re all good deals.

Just saw that and the comment was…Thorpe, Iriarte are among others going to Chicago…there are the two pitchers…if they send Marsee or Pauley plus one or two more I will probably have a stroke…trading away the future for a pitcher is garbage and we all know that any pitcher is one pitch away from the IL or TJ surgery…I hope that’s not the case but the history speaks for itself…Clevinger, Espinoza, Pomeranz, Richards all come to mind.
It wouldn’t surprise me if another pitcher…bullpen type is part of this deal…AJ knows he is on thin ice so if you’re going to go down at least swing for the fences …Damn
