Edwards ceiling is like 760 OPS just saying dude has Zero Power I love his hit/speed/D combo but basically a 3 tool player.. Cronsworth 5 tool player ..ready for MLB fits window .. Fangraphs had Edwards #12 in our system Consworth #17 in TB.. Likely like #13-#14 innours if not higher.. Age 25 (was drafted at 21 yrs old) sort of reminds me of a young Whit and with teams only carrying 13 potxhers has tremdoua value as a 14th P..

Not only that, but I think this says a lot about what the Padres think of Gabriel Arias. He's a different type of hitter than Edwards, but has more power, and is a plus defender at shortstop, and would therefore make a fantastic second baseman to team up with Tatis.

Pham (LF and sometimes CF) can hit (with some power) and clearly has on-base skills which is a major upgrade need .... 2 year control at about $11MM.

Cronsworth is “interesting” and as a LHH prospect for the middle INF as a bench player ... Maybe not a high ceiling but could be useful in 2020 then 2021. Don’t sleep on his upside as a RP ... some scouting reports have in in the mid-90s with a knee buckling breaking pitch and just returned to pitching last season. That could be the upside play with him. Remember Guerra to RP got him to the ML in one season. Probably in AAA as a call-up option ... on the 40 man roster.

Have to give quality to get quality. Pham is a current upgrade over Renfroe who has been around long enough to conclude he is his past. Edwards is better INF prospect than Cronsworth. Then the Padres are picking up payroll.

A good trade for winning now: Pham > Renfroe; Padres pick up about $8MM in payroll; Cronsworth < Edwards.
