I would think as things stand “right now” 2b is a platoon of Garcia/Profar.
It could certainly change...but Profar against lefties and Garcia against righties is pretty good offensively.
I’m not excited about Garcias’ defense for 65% of the innings but.....if the offense is there.
Profar was .276 OBP pre All Star break and .342 post...so let’s hope he figured it out.

So defensively we look like this:
C- Hedges
1B- Hosmer
2B- Profar
SS- Tatis
3B- Machado
LF- Myers
CF- Margot
RF- Renfroe
Not bad.

Should note that in the first half Profar was the everyday 2B ... in the second half he was only part-time. No idea on how OAK used him in that 2nd half. Maybe "platoon" is his calling.
Also heard a report that Profar got the yips throwing to 1B last year ... we will see.

So far I am “OK” with the moves we’ve made but these seem like Opening acts to the headliner coming soon.
I mean.....adding Grisham/Davies/Profar may have made us better.....but not by enough.
Right?
Are these the Pawn moves on the Preller chess board that is the 2019 offseason?

Agree. Adding Grisham and Davies may alter how Preller approaches other moves. Grisham who can play multiple OF slots and is a LHH might alter the profile of the targeted major upgrade OF and could also alter who he may be willing to include in a deal ... say Naylor / Cordero are easier to give up, maybe even Margot.
Same with Davies probably being a solid piece in the rotation and greater than Lauer, might make Quantrill or Lucchesi more likely to be traded and arguably they are are better trade chips than Lauer.
Davis - Paddack - Lamet - Richards getting four spots then only one of Lucchesi or Quantrill is “needed” and the other can be traded at a value higher than Lauer.
Have to give something to get something and maybe has Preller has position himself to give better ML talent in the quest for bigger upgrades.

Profar was also the "unluckiest" batter in 2019... his BABIP was horrendousley low

Austin Allen being on the 40 man roster had as much value as being being 2nd or 3rd in line to be DFA'd if we needed a roster spot or 2== In other words he was like #38 out of 40 if not #39.. He was going to be loss (or exposed to being loss) in the not too distant future

Maybe we should expect a big signing by MILW since they just non-tendered a load of players and saved $15MM to go with dealing Davies saving $5MM. No word on them being in a financial situation that requires payroll shedding.
Moustakas signed with CINN so he is not in the mix ... Rendon? One of the top flight SP? They could shake up the FA market soon.
