Quote from BoosterSD on November 27, 2019, 10:49 amAfter the trade with MIL, we now have a hole at 2B unless AJP sees a combo of Kinsler/Garcia works for 2020. I think this happens based on what OAK does early next week. I can that if Profar gets non tendered next by OAK, that he signs with SD and is our starting 2B next season.

Quote from sportwarrior on November 27, 2019, 10:53 amI remember reading somewhere that the Padres like Owen Miller and consider him close to ready. Quiroz is interesting, too. But let's not forget about my man Ty France. I think he could be a legit bat at 2B if his glove plays.

Quote from fenn68 on November 27, 2019, 11:11 amGuessing they sort through a lot of options ... not making 2B a high priority in 2020 waiting on Edwards (or Arias).
So, Kinsler - Garcia (L) - France on the roster with non-roster Quiroz (L) making his case in ST along with some ML veterans signed on a minor league deal and invite to ST. Profar may work.
Money / trade chips will be more focused on TOR or corner OF.

Quote from TatisJr on November 27, 2019, 11:39 amMy prediction is Quiroz ends up the guy at 2nd for 2020 and impresses with 270-280 ba and 330-340 OBP. He won’t be much with the glove and that’s where Kinsler comes into play as the defensive 2bagger.

Quote from sportwarrior on November 27, 2019, 12:18 pmWord is 4/34 for Pomeranz. Holy balls that's a lot of money for a 31 year old failed starter with 30 innings of relief under his belt. I was fine with 3/15 and mentally prepared for 3/21, but 4/34 is crazy. Wow.

Quote from BoosterSD on November 27, 2019, 1:01 pmWith the Pomeranz signing, I know have SD sitting at $135M±. Leaving SD about $5M if the $140M max is correct as been rumored, for any additional adds, prior to moving some salaries. Still think that Profar might be an add if non-tendered by OAK, maybe around the $2.5-3M range.

I agree, seems a little aggressive on the SD side. Maybe Fowler and Siedler are going to open up more cash than people give them credit for, is $150-160M in play?

Quote from BoosterSD on November 27, 2019, 1:11 pmJonathon Villar just placed on waivers, probably a non tender candidate as well. Meaning becoming a FA and with the SD ties to BAL with Machado, and the two coaches added, could we see Villar coming in to fight for the 2B job?

Do we? We had Urias penciled there--- I can feel pretty confident Miller/Quiroz/Edwards/Kinsler/Garcia/France would likely equal or IMPROVE the 2B production I mean we are talking .655 OPS for Urias 2019...and 1 WAR

yup -- nobody will claim him euther as he is in line for $10.4 mil ARB... but at $5 mil on a 1 + 1 type deal makes total sense-- Obviously if we claim and work out a deal for Orioles taking on Myers the $10.4 mil in arb (projected) wouldnt matter much as we would still save $10 mil
