IF Lamet stays healthy, IF Paddock develops a 3rd pitch, IF Gore and Patino develop at the rate they are, we are looking really good. Of course all have IFs, but what team doesnt. Still think Stras makes this list look better, trade Myers and find the money for Stras.

Hard to say what the scouts think of Dickerson but the Padres need some LHH and more offense from the OF. Even on a platoon he plays 75% of the time. Then consider he only cost money (and not all that much if you accept the projections.) He has a track record of hitting in the ML.

What is not to like given the legit alternatives on the market? Singing him does not preclude another add ... not as though the Padres are stuffed with high end OF talent. Money gets it done which is a lot easier than making trades and giving up prospects that could be used in other trades for upgrades.

I want Dickerson....I was first to suggest him

I didn’t say anything about “not” wanting him..

I just found it interesting that “they” somehow don’t think he will go to any team that was even at .500 last season.

Why would he only be a fit on a bad team is my question?

First question is there any top team that is actually interested in signing him ... and for how much. No idea. (This sort of goes with all the FA ... their wants are not always a possible). Money is usually the factor.

Hamels was reportedly seeking a contract with a “contender” at this point in his career. How much money will he pass on for that want ... again no idea.

Was not the “rumor” that Machado only wanted to play on the east coast and Harper wanted to go to a CA team? At least at this time last year. Then buyers thinned out ... and MONEY altered those “rumored” wants.

On the flip side a lot of teams may like to add a player but only at their price.

Hard to align all the dots to make any real assessment.

Is there a team in need of a backup secondbaseman who happens to have a useless LH hitting outfielder who is also making about $4 mil we can just trade Kinsler for?

Or are we stuck with him especially now that his "friend" is the manager?

Do the Red Sox need a guy like Kinsler and we could do a Kinsler for Bradley kind of deal?

Would Bradleys' defense and LH bat be worth the difference between Kinslers' $4 mil and his contract?

Bradley did have a .788 OPS against RH pitching...platoon with Margot?

On the trades thread, I suggested a 3 team deal where SD ends up with Benintendi and Bradley Jr, CWS end up with JD Martinez, and prospects change hands.

Yeah I realize Bradley isn't a great offensive improvement over what we have but if it means moving Kinsler at the same time....that

I could stomach easier.

Or if it means adding Benintendi also.

But maybe just moving these two by themselves for salary relief for the Sox and to rid us of a guy who won't see the field much(roster spot)?

Bradley is still only 29 and maybe a change of scenery and a platoon situation could benefit him/us.

He may not, but at least he is one and done. So, hopefully a nice bridge to Trammell. And then we can move on from him. Plus, if he does improve, maybe we can flip at the trade deadline.

JBJ is not worth $11 million. Is he worth the $7 million he would cost us if Boston takes on Kinsler? Ehhhhhhh....maybe. I just think that Boston has a higher opinion of his worth. This may be the kind of deal that Boston does at the end of winter if they find out that nobody else wants him.

We need to see what they think Benintendi is worth before we can try any deals for him. If their opinion of him isn't far over-inflated then maybe.

I just don't know why BOS would trade Benitendi with JBJ and Betts a year away from FA. Nice to dream on, but if I am them my ask is  Munoz, Urias & Campusano or Edwards.  I don't do that if I'm AJP (for this player).

Who mentioned trading Betts, the idea of BOS trading away Benintendi, JBJ, and JDM is so they can keep Betts and try and sign him next offseason, and get under the CBT.
