Off Season Thread

No one was talking about how hard it is to play.....we were discussing the chances of getting injured on defense.

I guess it's a matter of opinion but I believe someone who plays like FTJ would get hurt more often in CF than at SS.

The Braves sign Will Smith....3yr/$39 mil.

They are not fooling around with that bullpen.

After trading for three relievers at the  last deadline.

If SD can use prospects to trade the full value of Myers contract, and then trim some additional dollars by trading Margot and Hedges. I figure they can save almost $25M± for this offseason. They then would have almost $42M to spend this year in FA, if SD caps out at $140M payroll for this season. And then another almost $13M next year after the drop off of the Oliveras money and Kinslers contract.

It’s gonna really suck to lose good prospects just to also lose Wil Myers.

I agree; however, something has to be done. We can not go on with a player that makes what Myers makes and does not hit his weight. This deal is an albatross that is going to hamstring us from going forward in the future.

Same answer. I can't believe this is an issue. There is no question IF is more hazardous. When was the last time an OF had to worry about getting taken out or getting hit in the face with a ball? OF run into walls. IF run into stands or dugouts. OF literally never have to catch an errant throw with what that entails.

Yeah-- But Wil still has value as a player... So If lets say I have to attach Weathers + Arias + Campusano to have someone eat his salary--- I rather use Weathers + Arias + Campusano to get WHIT and keep Myers (example).. But you get my drift..

Or we can add enough prospects to at least get a quality bat in return.

I’m thinking Myers/Campusano/Miller/$10 mil per for Mitch Haniger.

Last year was (ugly) injury season for him.

Myers and Dickerson are both about as predictable as the other. Either one is capable of being a very good player or avg to below. I don't think its the Apocalypse if Myers is in the picture next season. Depends on other movesof course.
